Macon and the greater Middle Georgia area is once more an excellent place for live entertainment this weekend. There will be performances from classic bands like Mothers Finest and Jupiter Coyote, as well as talented newer artists like Taylor Hughes and Victoria Day. The following are just a few of the noteworthy live shows taking place from May 17th through May 19th.
FRIDAY, May 17th
TROY DILLARD, THE M.O.B.B., DJ AD AT SERENITY BASH 24 (7 p.m. - 1 a.m.)
Serenity Entertainment Complex, a performance and event venue/listening room in Downtown Macon, will be celebrating its second anniversary Friday night. Troy Dillard and The M.O.B.B. (who the venue describes as “Macon’s own bad boyz”) will be performing as well as DJ AD and special surprise guests. There will also be raffles taking place throughout the evening. MOTHERS FINEST AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 - 11 p.m.)
Mothers Finest is a rock band with a long history: the band was started in 1970 in Atlanta and charted with several singles including “Fire” and “Piece of the Rock”. Mothers Finest is led by vocalists Glenn "Doc" Murdock and Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy and features Gary "Moses Mo" Moore and John "Red Devil" Hayes on guitars, Jerry "Wyzard" Seay on bass, and Dion Derek on drums. HUGHES TAYLOR’S "DARK ROAST" ALBUM RELEASE SHOW AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)
Hughes Taylor is a talented, young guitarist and singer from Macon who has seen success far outside of Middle Georgia, touring in the United Kingdom in 2020. Taylor will be performing in celebration of the release of his album "Dark Roast" on Friday night and tickets cost $10 online at this link or the door.

TRES HOMBRES AT 20’S PUB (9 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Tres Hombres will be playing classic rock and blues music at 20’s Pub early into Saturday morning. There is no cover charge at 20’s Pub.
VICTORIA DAY AT GRACIE’S IN WARNER ROBINS (9:30 p.m.)
Victoria Day is a vocalist who performs music from many different genres. Gracie’s: A Rooftop Bar is a cocktail bar that has no cover charge.
MAMA STONE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Mama Stone is a progressive rhythm and blues band from Valdosta. The band’s latest release is their single “Hold On”. This show will have a $5 cover charge at the door.

SATURDAY, May 18th
JUPITER COYOTE AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (7 - 10 p.m.)
Jupiter Coyote is a rock band from Macon that formed in the late 1980s and is still rocking all these years later. Tickets to see Jupiter Coyote in concert cost $20 on eventbrite.com.
OTIS AT THE BIG HOUSE MUSEUM (7 - 9 p.m.)
The Big House Museum will have the first concert of their Summer Concert Series on Saturday with a performance from OTIS. This band is a rock and roll band from Kentucky whose music was included in the soundtrack from 2020’s film “Street Survivors: The True Story of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash”. There will be free admission to this concert but donations to the Allman Brothers Band museum are appreciated.
ROAD TRIP: STRAIT COUNTRY (GEORGE STRAIT TRIBUTE) AT THE GRIFFIN OPERA HOUSE (8 p.m.)
George Strait is a country music singer/songwriter, an actor, and a music producer. He is credited with being at the forefront of the neotraditional country style in the 80s. It makes sense that Strait Country, who formed in 2021, will be paying tribute to Strait at their show on Saturday at the Griffin Opera House. ELECTRIC AVENUE: THE 80’S MTV EXPERIENCE AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)
Electric Avenue is a tribute band that plays hits from the 80s. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the synth music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets to see Electric Avenue perform start at $20 online at this link or the Capitol Theatre’s box office.

DRAGGLE ROCK AND TAYLOR ALXNDR AT JBA (9 p.m. - 12 a.m.)
Draggle Rock is a unique rock and roll drag show featuring members of The Tribe and Miss Taylor Alxndr from Atlanta. There will be a $10 cover charge for those 18 years and older.
RECKLESS SOUL AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
The band Reckless Soul will be playing covers of country, southern rock, and blues songs at Billy’s Clubhouse late Saturday night. There is no cover at Billy’s Clubhouse.
DJ LYLEWIND AND DJ CADDY WOMPUS AT RA RA RA RAVE TIME AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Buffington’s will host another late night of electronic music with performances from DJs Lylewind and Caddy Wompus. Buffington’s does not have a cover charge.
SUNDAY, May 19th
MUSIC AND THE ARTS: BATHGATE-TONG-KAPLAN TRIO AT VINEVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (4 p.m.)
Music and the Arts is a free concert with soothing piano, violin, and cello music. This concert will be the final performance of the 32nd season of the Music and the Arts at Vineville United Methodist Church.
AMERICAN AQUARIUM AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)
American Aquarium is a rock and roll band with almost two decades of performances under their musical belt and will bring their show to Macon on Sunday evening. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the music will start at 8 p.m. Tickets to see American Aquarium in concert start at $25 online at this link or the Capitol Theatre’s box office.
