With Memorial Day coming up on Monday, many people will be looking to get out and enjoy the long weekend in the next few days. Musicians and some funny comedians will do their best to keep the crowds entertained at venues around Macon and greater Middle Georgia. The following are just a few of the entertaining events going on from May 24th through May 26th.
FRIDAY, May 24th
MOM BRAIN AT THE DAISY TEQUILA BAR (5 p.m.)
Mom Brain is a band of two sisters who will be playing a last-minute show at Downtown Macon’s Daisy Tequila Bar. There is no cover at this venue.
MATT ROGERS AT LAKE HOUSE AT OCONEE IN EATONTON (6 p.m.)
Lake House Oconee is a gastropub that is also a music venue. Matt Rogers is a country musician who will be performing at the official “Kick Off to Summer” event for Lake House Oconee.
SHAW COGGIN AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (7 - 10 p.m.)
Shaw Coggin, a talented student at Georgia College and State University, will be performing at Buffington’s this Friday evening. There is no cover charge at Buffington’s, which is a restaurant/music venue.
TROMBONE LOVE AT PARISH ON CHERRY ST. (7 - 10 P.m.)
Trombone Love, who can often be found playing funk, jazz, and rhythm and blues on his trombone and making the crowds dance at venues across Macon, will perform at Parish on Cherry St. for the Friday night crowds.
This will not be the first time Trombone Love has performed at Parish on Cherry St.
MIKE KINNEBREW AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 - 10 p.m.)
Talented songwriter and singer Mike Kinnebrew will perform at The Society Garden late into the night on Friday. This venue often has a cover charge that starts before the music does.
HEART OF PINE AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)
Heart of Pine will be performing Americana music at historic Grant’s Lounge. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m. with tickets costing $10 at the door or online at this link.
K.P. & THE SIDEWINDERS AT 20’S PUB (9 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Keith Patterson (K.P.) will perform with his band at 20’s Pub early into Saturday morning. There is no cover at 20’s Pub.
THE BEARCATS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
The Bearcats is a rock and roll band that will be performing at North Macon’s Billy’s Clubhouse late Friday night. There is no cover at Billy’s.
DJ PICKLES AND DJ SIKE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD FOR UTOPIA (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Utopia is an evening of entertainment with two DJs (Pickles and SIKE) as well as lasers, “spark showers”, a visual video jockey (VJ), and lots of pretty lights, according to the Hummingbird. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this unique show.

SATURDAY, May 25th
BEACH BASH WITH MACON POPS AT THE MACON MUSEUM OF ARTS & SCIENCE (6 p.m.)
The Macon Pops will be playing music to get the crowds in a summer mood at the Beach Bash on Saturday evening. Attendees will receive free entry into the museum if they arrive early at 4 p.m. There will also be gifts given out to the first 100 people who show up. General admission tickets to the Beach Bash are $30, tickets for students are $10, and kids 5 and under get in free and they can be purchased at this link.
REGGAE ON THE ROOFTOP WITH DJ T.K.S. (7 - 9 p.m.)
The sounds of reggae will be drifting over the crowds on the streets of Downtown Macon on Saturday evening. DJ T.K.S., who hails from Brooklyn, will be manning the turntables for this event.
CANCELLED: TIME CAPSULE: 90s EDITION WITH DJ PICKLES AT MAIN STREET BAR IN PERRY (8 p.m.)
DJ Pickles will be bringing back the 90s (at least the music) on the rooftop for Time Capsule. The bar/venue will also be serving 90s-themed cocktails to celebrate the occasion.
CHAIN REACTION AT MY BAR IN PERRY (9 p.m.)
Chain Reaction is a band from Savannah that plays music from country, rock, and other genres. Chain Reaction will be celebrating their recent signing with Muzzle Records and this performance will be different for the band as they will be performing an acoustic set.
CMD STYLES, DJ GOGETTA, BLAK PEARL, AND J. MILES AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)
This event is Grant’s Lounge’s Memorial Day Weekend Saturday Night Party and will feature performances by CMD Styles and DJ GoGetta. Blak Pearl and J. Miles will be hosting this celebration. Tickets cost $5 at the door or online at this link.
OPEN MIC COMEDY WITH ROY HAIRSTON, TALL TREY, AND OGRE, AT REBOOT RETROCADE & BAR (9 p.m.)
Tucker Andres will be hosting a night of open mic comedy at Reboot late Saturday night featuring comedians Roy Hairston, Ogre, and more. This show is for those 18 and older and the performer list drops at 8 p.m. with the show starting at 9 p.m. There will be no cover charge for this event.
RADIO CULT AT WILD WING CAFE IN MACON (9 p.m.)
Radio Cult, a rock and roll band from Atlanta, has performed near and far, including in the UK. They will be bringing their show to Wild Wing Cafe on Saturday night. There is no cover charge at this restaurant/music venue.

THE BEARCATS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m.)
The Bearcats will be rocking out The Hummingbird late Saturday night. There will be a $5 cover charge for this performance.
MATT MCMILLAN & THE CITY LIMITS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m.)
Matt McMillan & The City Limits will be performing covers of classic rock and country songs at Billy’s Clubhouse. There is never a cover charge at Billy’s.
SUNDAY, May 26th
ONCE AN OUTLAW WITH CHRIS HICKS AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (6 - 8 p.m.)
Chris Hicks and his new band will perform at The Society Garden on Sunday. Hicks’s new band is made up of BB Borden, also from the Marshall Tucker Band like Hicks, Chris Anderson of the Outlaws, Tim Archibald of Peter Wolfe/Michael McDonald Band, Jon Butcher, and James Montgomery. Tickets to this show cost $20 on eventbrite.com.
