The air is cooling, and this weekend's weather is forecast to be the perfect time to get outside for a food truck festival in Downtown Perry, attend a dance party celebrating everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, or take part in one of the other unique events taking place in Middle Georgia this weekend. 


FRIDAY, September 20th

Photography Night in the Field at Field Cut Flowers (5-8 p.m.)

Megan Marie Photography will be presenting a unique photo opportunity at Field Cut Flowers on Friday. Guests will get a field tour and get a chance to harvest colorful flowers together while Megan Marie Photography will provide a mini-photo session.  > Perry Food Truck Friday - Tailgate Takeover (6-10 p.m.)

Downtown Perry’s latest Perry Food Truck Friday invites Middle Georgians to dress up to represent their favorite football teams while enjoying food and beverages from over twenty food trucks. The organizers of this event invite attendees to bring bag chairs, but no outside coolers or alcohol, and well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome.

Storytellers Macon Live: Chosen Family with Macon Pride at Serenity Entertainment Complex (6-8:30 p.m.)

This Storytellers Macon event will focus on the theme "Chosen Family" and include entertaining stories told by those who lived them as part of the Macon Pride festival. General admission tickets to Storytellers Macon Live Pride Edition cost $10 on eventbrite.com.

All Hands Are Festival VIP Art Party at The 567 (7 p.m.)

The annual All Hands Art Festival returns to Macon this weekend with three days of events, starting with a VIP Party at The 567 on Friday with live music from James Worsham and food and drinks. On Saturday, attendees to the festival can browse a variety of unique artworks and handmade goods, watch potters and glass blowers compete in the Art Olympics, and hear music from Dean Brown and Justin Cutway. On Sunday, there will be chances to play with clay, see the completed artworks from the art Olympics, and hear musical performances from DJ Willie D and Kelley Dixon. Each day of the festival, potters, a glass blower, a wood carver, and a blacksmith will give live demonstrations. General admission tickets cost $5 and VIP tickets (which include admission to the VIP party, cost $30 online at this link.

Shrek Rave Returns to The Society Garden (8-11:30 p.m.)

This is one of those unique events that have to be experienced to be understood. The Shrek Rave will pay tribute to attendees favorite Shrek characters. It will include three DJs, a wild light show, a costume contest where participants are encouraged to dress like a character from the Shrek movies, and more. SATURDAY, September 21st

12th Annual Dragon Boat Races Benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters at Lake Tobesofkee’s Clayston Park (8 a.m.)

Watch colorful dragon boats glide across the waters of Lake Tobesofkee for a good cause at the 12th Annual Dragon Boat Races. This annual event will benefit the philanthropic mission of the Big Brothers Big Sisters. The public is invited to come watch the races and enjoy a beach party and tailgate. There will be a live DJ as well as games for kinds.

Downtown Garden Bike Ride with Bike Walk Macon (8-10 a.m.)

The Fringed Campion Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society, Bike Walk Macon, and the Georgia Native Plant Society is presenting a unique bike ride where participants will take a tour of garden projects in Downtown Macon while enjoying a brisk bike ride through town. The bike route is about seven miles long and is free to take part in, though helmets are required to take part in the ride. The bike ride starts at the Bike Walk Macon office.

Mercer Singers Family Weekend Gala Concert at Fickling Hall (11 a.m.)

The students at theTownsend School of Music will perform a gala concert on Saturday hosted by the Mercer Singers. This free event is part of Mercer’s Family Weekend.

Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival at Carolyn Crayton Park (1-7 p.m.) 

September 15th was the start of Hispanic Heritage Month and there will be several festive events taking place to celebrate the occasion, including the Macon-Bibb Hispanic Festival this Friday. This free event will include live music, various foods from Hispanic-owned eateries, vendors, activities for kids, and more.

Warner Robins Burger Week (9/22-9/28) 

Warner Robins Burger Week will bring a tasty burger competition to twenty-five locally owned businesses. The burgers include the Tap & Pour Southwest Smash, Little Sweeties Cakery’s Pinkalicious Strawburger, and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux’s The Beignet Burger, as well as many more unique takes on the humble burger. SUNDAY, September 22nd

Classics at the Bibb: “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (8 p.m.)

The colorful and hilarious movie "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar", which stars Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo as courageous drag queens, will be screened on the side of the historic Bibb Theatre as part of the ten-day long Macon Pride. Attendees at this free event are invited to bring chairs or picnic blankets to relax in the small park across from the theater and enjoy the film

Pumpkins, Painting, and Pizza at Just Tap’d (12 p.m.)
