This weekend will include plenty of festive celebrations, including a silent disco in Downtown Macon from Good Medicine, art exhibits featuring artwork and furniture from Triangle Arts Macon's Ric Geyer as well as many other talented artists, holiday markets, and much more. The following are just a few of the adventures to be had this weekend in Macon and greater Middle Georgia.
FRIDAY, December 6th
Visit Macon presents Good Medicine: Santa’s Secret Disco (5 p.m.)
The Court of Miracles and Visit Macon presents another Good Medicine on Friday with a silent disco, flow arts session, a dance party, and arts and crafts vendors. This free event is family-friendly and is located near Third Street Park in a new (and secret) location. Attendees are advised to listen for the bells to find Santa’s Secret Disco.

Hay House Christmas Candlelight Tours (5-9 p.m.)
The extravagant Hay House will be lit with romantic candlelight as attendees are taken on tours of the 19th-century mansion on Friday evening. Hay House is well known as an especially beautiful place to visit during the Christmas season. Tickets to this unique event, which will also take place on Saturday, cost $20 on the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s website.

December First Friday in Downtown Macon (5-11:45 p.m.)
Another First Friday celebration in Downtown Macon will include freshly prepared s’mores from NewTown Macon (6 to 8 p.m.), as well as a visit from Santa (6 to 10 p.m.) in Poplar Street Park. The Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza will have shows at 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m. There will also be a Christmas market at Quill, and the Macon Auditorium will be screening the original “The Grinch” movie starting at 7 p.m., and admission will be free. Of course, there will also be the regular First Friday art crawl, with the McEachern Art Center opening “Progression” with art from Triangle Art’ Macon’s Ric Geyer (6 to 8 p.m.), the 567 Center’s annual “Favorite Things” exhibit will be on display with artworks that also work as great gifts (5 to 8 p.m.), Gallery West will feature the very creative artwork of rock musician Doug Miles (5 to 8 p.m.), and Green Light Gallery will present artwork by Hazel Caldwell that is featured in an upcoming book by Caldwell and Dr. Bradley Lenz with live music being presented by singer and songwriter Brax Buckley.
Christmas Lights Spectacular in Downtown Macon (6 p.m.)
The Macon Christmas Lights Spectacular, which was recently featured on ABC World News Tonight, includes over one million synchronized, twinkling lights with light shows on the hour every night from 6 to 9 p.m. through January 2, 2025.

ROAD TRIP: Christmas in Griffin (6 p.m.)
The City of Griffin and City Church will present Griffin’s annual tree lighting ceremony and Christmas experience in Downtown Griffin.
Santa will be riding in a fire truck instead of a sleigh as he lights the city's Christmas tree. City Church for Christmas on Solomon Street. Walk Christmas Tree Lane will include decorated trees and train rides for kids, as well as lights, snow, s’mores, ornament painting, and more. Finally, there will also be a screening of the movie “The Grinch” at City Hall afterward. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Opening Reception for “Progression - From the Archives of Ric Geyer” at McEachern Art Center (6-8 p.m.)
“Progression” is an art exhibit featuring artwork created by Ric Geyer, the creative entrepreneur behind Macon’s Triangle Arts Macon, as well as projects in Detroit and Atlanta. The pieces on display will include some created during Geyer’s childhood as well as his more current pieces, such as colorful furniture that he has created under the “Val Kill” furniture label, which Eleanor Roosevelt founded in the mid-1920s. “Progression” is free and open to the public.

A Night in Bethlehem Interactive Family Experience in Byron (6 p.m.)
Harvest Church will present a family-friendly A Night in Bethlehem on Friday evening, which will include a “bustling Bethlehem marketplace” as well as a visit with Mary and Joseph with live animals. A Night in Bethlehem is free to attend.

Nativity Drive-Thru at Mount de Sales Academy (6-8 p.m.)
Mount de Sales Academy will host a Nativity Drive-Thru on Friday night with live scenes, hot cocoa, and students from St. Joseph Catholic Church singing Christmas music.

Screening of “The Polar Express” in Perry (6-10 p.m.)
The family-friendly Christmas movie “The Polar Express” will be screened on an outdoor screen at the Perry Events Center on Friday as part of the City of Perry and Visit Perry’s Fall Film Series. There will also be free family activities and food trucks, according to the organizers. This event is free and open to the public.

Handel’s “Messiah” at St. Joseph Catholic Church (7:30 p.m.)
The Choral Society of Middle Georgia and the Mercer University Choir will perform George Handel’s “Messiah” at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday night as well. This well-known musical piece is often heard around Christmas, was compiled from the King James Bible, and was first performed in 1742. Tickets to this performance cost $15 online at this link.

SATURDAY, December 7th
The Museum of Aviation's Festival of Trees (9 a.m.-5 p.m.)
The Museum of Aviation is celebrating the holiday season with creatively decorated Christmas tree displays inside its Eagle building. The Festival of Trees will be on display through December 20, 2024. Admission is free at the Museum of Aviation

Remembering Central State Hospital: A Community Memory Project in Milledgeville (10 a.m.)
The Middle Georgia Regional Library invites the public to a public symposium about Central State Hospital with Mab Segrest, author of “Administrations of Lunacy: Racism and the Haunting of American Psychiatry at the Milledgeville Asylum” as well as several other guests, including former staff members and family of staff members. This event is free to attend.

The City of Perry Christmas Parade (10 a.m.)
The City of Perry will hold an “old-fashioned Christmas” parade on Saturday morning. The parade will also celebrate the 200th birthday of the City of Perry. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

ROAD TRIP: European Christmas Market in Jackson (12-6 p.m.)
There will be a “European-inspired” Christmas Market in Jackson on Saturday. Jackson is located around 40 miles northwest of Macon. As part of this festive event, attendees will get a chance to take photographs with Santa, there will be a free ornament station for kids, and there will be food items for sale, including sausages, sauerkraut, Belgian waffles, hot chocolate, and hot mulled cider as well as vendors selling unique gifts, ornaments, wreaths, and more. The European Christmas Market is free to attend.

PAW Patrol Live! “A Mighty Adventure” at the Macon Coliseum (2 p.m.)
A live-action PAW Patrol show on ice, based on the popular animated television series, will be coming to the Macon Coliseum this weekend for four showings, with two shows on Saturday and two shows on Sunday. Tickets start at $25 on ticketmaster.com and children who have already celebrated their first birthday must have a paid ticket.

Centerville Lighted Christmas Parade (7-9:30 p.m.)
The city of Centerville will have its annual Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

A Twisted Christmas Carol in Warner Robins (7:30-9:30 p.m.)
The Warner Robins Little Theatre troupe will present “A Twisted Christmas Carol” on Saturday evening. This play is a Texas-styled take on Charles Dickens’s classic tale, “A Christmas Carol.” The play will also be presented on Sunday, December 8th, Friday, December 13th, Saturday, December 14th, Sunday, December 15th, Friday, December 20th, Saturday, December 21st, and Sunday, December 22nd if you aren’t able to make it this Saturday. ROAD TRIP: Mistletoe Market in Downtown Griffin (12-4 p.m.)
The City of Griffin, along with the Griffin Downtown Council, will present a free, family-friendly Mistletoe Market on Sunday afternoon. This event will include vendors, cookie decorating with Santa, activities for kids, and live music. The Mistletoe Market is free and open to the public.
