This weekend, Kirk and Kristen West's Gallery West will celebrate its 11th anniversary, the circus will come to Milledgeville, the Macon Mayhem will play several games of hockey in the Macon Coliseum, the general public can skate on the same ice this Sunday, and much more. The following are just a few of the fun, unique, and often free things to do this weekend in the heart of Georgia.


FRIDAY, JANUARY 16th

  >> Comfort Farms Build and Feast (1/16-1/18) (10 a.m.)

Comfort Farms will hold its first annual Build and Feast this weekend. This event is to help the nonprofit organization prepare for its growing season and will include the building of structures for livestock and preparing fields for planting. Comfort Farms’ mission is “to help veterans heal, reintegrate, and find purpose through sustainable farming.” Fall Line Brewing Co. will be providing cold beverages for Build and Feast.   >> ART: Gallery West 11th Anniversary Celebration (5-9 p.m.)

Gallery West will be celebrating 11 years of business this Friday evening in Downtown Macon. This art gallery was started by rock and roll photographer and Allman Brothers Band archivist/road manager Kirk West. Since then, it has expanded its offerings to include the work of other talented artists, 9 of whom currently have artwork displayed on the gallery’s walls. This event is free and open to attend.

  >> MLK Weekend Special at RollCall - Eat, Skate, Play (1/16-1/19) (5-8 p.m.)

Roll Call (formerly known as Rocket Roller Rink) will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend and next Monday with deals on skating, bouncing, and more. Patrons can get unlimited skating, unlimited bouncing, and a punch card with 3 punches (which can be used for a mix and match arcade, treats, and more).   >> All American Circus at Milledgeville’s Army National Guard Armory (1/16-1/18) (7-8:30 p.m.)

The All American Circus is coming to Milledgeville this weekend. There will be a kids' fun zone with activities like face painting and a bounce house, according to organizers. Circus goers can expect acrobatic feats from the Rosales family, a Ring of Death with daring motorcycle riders, and, of course, clowns. Showtimes of the All American Circus are 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Ticket prices to the All American Circus start at $5 online at this link.

  >> HOCKEY: Back to the Future Night at the Macon Mayhem vs. Birmingham Bulls Game in the Macon Coliseum (7 p.m.)

The Macon Mayhem will pay tribute to the hit Back to the Future movies at their game against the Birmingham Bulls on Friday. Hockey fans will likely hear exclamations of Great Scott! and other Back to the Future references during this game. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Mayhem will again face off against the Bulls during Lilo & Stitch Night.   >> MUSIC: Townsend School of Music Faculty Recital featuring M. Isaac Ripple and Kyung-A-Yoo in Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)

Faculty members of the Townsend School of Music will present a free concert this Friday in Fickling Hall. The recital will include performances from M. Isaac Ripple on oboe as well as Kyung-A Yoo on piano. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

  >> MUSIC: Daniel Green and Friends at Goat Island Tavern (8 p.m.)

Daniel Green and Friends will be performing at Jackson’s Goat Island Tavern this Friday evening. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this 21 and up show.

  >> MUSIC: War Town Underground at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

War Town Underground will be performing covers of popular hard rock, metal, and alternative music at The Hummingbird on Friday. War Town Underground was founded in 2022 by four musicians based in Warner Robins. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17th

  >> RUNNING: 30th Annual Will Robinson Memorial Race at the Georgia Military College (8:30 a.m.)

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Military College (GMC) Alumni Association will present the 30th Annual Will Robinson Memorial Race this Saturday. This annual event is held in honor of a Georgia Military College alumnus, Deputy Will Robinson, who lost his life in the line of duty. Proceeds from the race will go toward the GMC Scholarship in Robinson’s name and the Choosing Healthy Activities and Promoting Safety (CHAMPS) program for the Baldwin County. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 10 a.m., and the 5K Road Race begins at 10:30 a.m. Registration for the Will Robinson Memorial Race’s 5K cost $25 and the 1-Mile Fun Run cost $20 online at this link.

  >> Horse Camp at the Creek Moore Equestrian Center (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)

The Creek Moore Equestrian Center will hold its next Horse Camp this Saturday. Attendees will receive a horseback riding lesson, create a horse-themed craft, play pony games, and more. No horse riding experience is required to attend the Horse Camp. Participants are requested to bring a water bottle and a snack. Horse Camp is for students from 8 to 13 years old.   >> Grown Up Book Sale at Allen’s Market (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

School book fairs hold a special place in the memories of some who long ago walked out of a school classroom for the last time. Milledgeville Baldwin County Allied Arts and Allen’s Market invites those grown-ups to relive the magic of those book fairs at the Grown Up Book Sale this Saturday. Local authors T.M. Brown, Jessica Whitehead, Janisse Ray, James Murdock, Kerry Neville, Kerry James Evans, and Laura Newbern will be on hand to meet with and talk to attendees. This family-free event is free to attend.

  >> MLK Day of Service at Greenwood Bottom (10 a.m.-12 p.m.)

Historic Macon Foundation and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful is teaming up for an MLK Day of Service at Macon’s Greenwood Bottom this Saturday. Participants will gather for a community cleanup that begins at 10 a.m. Register to take part in this community event at this link. Later in the day, at 3 p.m., the documentary “Made for a King,” which focuses on King’s final visit to Macon, will be screened at the Douglass Theatre. U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop will take part in a discussion afterward about revitalizing historic black neighborhoods like Greenwood Bottom, as well as economic development and cultural preservation, according to the organizers. Hello Boba Cafe will host a free crafting event this Saturday. Patrons will get a chance to make kandi bracelets and star wands. This all-ages event is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC: The Country & Western Fest at Grant’s Lounge (5 p.m.)

The Country & Western Fest will take place this Saturday evening at historic Grant’s Lounge. This annual event will include an acoustic guitar pull, which is where individual guitarists play a song with other musicians accompanying them, as well as performances from several full bands. Musicians taking part in The Country & Western Fest’s guitar pull include Skyler Slates, Justin Cutway, Matt McMillan, and Drew Whitehead, while the bands performing include The Frogs of Calabash, Fireball Roberts, Half Grass, Tyler Sidney, Tommy Toledo, The Howdies, and last but certainly not least, Sweet Diesel.   >> MUSIC: The Magic of Motown at The Plaza Arts Center (7:30 p.m.)

The Magic of Motown will take place at the Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton this Saturday evening. This show will feature hit Motown songs from acts like The Temptations, The Jackson Five, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, and more. Performers at this event will include Hazel Moon, Valtorin Dynasty, Zoya Marx, Nicole Rosé, Squishyy, Hellacia, Tiny V. Giny, and Danni Da Baddest, while DJ B3 will provide the musical entertainment.   >> Art Hive: 2026 Vision Board Making at Artspace Macon (1-3 p.m.)

The Art Hive’s 2026 vision Board Making is a creative event to start off 2026 with “intention, creativity, and community.” This event is hosted by nonprofit Mind’s Eye Connections. Attendees will receive posters, magazines, and collage materials, though patrons are invited to bring their own if they would like. Sarah Payton of Positive Sound Baths will start this event with a sound bath and meditation. This Art Hive event is free with registration online at this link.

Sweet Georgia Jamz will include live music, family fun, food, and a Kids’ Zone, according to organizers. This event is presented by the booking and management team of Teeger Entertainment & Consultations.

  >> ICE SKATING: Public Ice Skating at the Macon Coliseum (12-6 p.m.)
