Macon and middle Georgia has plenty of exciting events taking place this week.

Tuesday, September 21st

Coffee & Culture (4:30 p.m.)

This free event by Mercer Abroad will take place at Z Beans Coffee. Come drink your favorite caffeinated beverage while learning about “the food and culture of Ireland” from a student who hails from The Emerald Isle.

Quiet Mind Yoga (6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.)

This event at St. Francis Episcopal Church is part of a free 12-week long series of yoga classes that focus on “addiction recovery and mental health”, according to the organizers. Betsy Mills, a Licensed Professional Counselor and certified yoga teacher, will be the instructor for these events. This is the third class in the series.

Wednesday, September 22nd

Creative Conservations: Macon Art eXplosion (6:00 p.m.)

This month’s Creative Conservations event meets at The Grand Opera House and will serve as an “info session” about the upcoming Macon Art eXplosion event in October, according to the organizers. Macon Art eXplosion is a weekend long arts festival with interactive activities and creative happenings unlike anything else that has come to Macon recently.

Thursday, September 23rd

GABBAfest 2021 (5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.)

This event is a “kickoff” event for the rest of GABBAfest and will take place at Gallery West. Presented by GABBA (Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association) there will be several events from Thursday until Sunday and this is highly recommended for all Allman Brothers Band fans. Tickets for this weekend long event can be purchased by calling the Grand Opera House at (478) 301-5470 or by going to this website.

Glass Suncatcher Workshop (6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

Learn how to make unique and eye-catching glass suncatchers at this event that takes place at stARTup Studios. The instructor will be the talented glassmith, Bryan Beck. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased here. Attendees must be 12 years or older. (If you can’t make it to this event, there will be another one on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.)

Macon’s Cookin’ (6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.)

Rebuilding Macon, Inc. invites you to come to Fall Line Brewing Co. for their fourth annual Macon’s Cookin’ fundraiser. This event will help fund good samaritan work around Macon helping low income, elderly, and disabled people rehabilitate their homes. There will be more than a dozen restaurants providing food as well as local brews as well as live music. Tickets are $45 to $50 and can be purchased through Eventbrite here.

Dress for Fun/Sing with Pride featuring McKinley Starks and Yutoya Leon (6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.)

This free outdoor cabaret event is a part of Macon Pride 2021 Festival and will take place at Third Street Park. There will be a movie screen and a sing-along, according to the organizers.

Friday, September 24th

The Commedia Pinocchio (10:00 a.m.)

This event by Mercer University Theatre is a free family friendly event taking place on Friday and Saturday at Tattnall Square Park. There will be goodies for attendees. Five actors will tell a wild tale around the story of Pinocchio written by Carlo Collodi.

Date Night Glassblowing Workshop (6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.)

The class at stARTup STudios is for two people and will teach those two people how to create either a drinking glass or stemless wine glass. If you can’t make the first class, there are several is a later class on Friday and two more on Saturday. Tickets are $120 ($60 per person) and can be purchased here.

Movie in the Park in Downtown Griffin (7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.)

Downtown Griffin and City Church will be showing Disney’s “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”. This free event will also feature free popcorn, ice cream, and giveaways, according to the organizers.

Macon Pride 2021 Festival: House Party! with Lala Ri from RuPaul’s Drag Race (8:00 p.m.)

This event will be held at Harry Capitol Theatre and will feature a drag show with local talent and special guests. Tickets range from $15 to $30 (service fees extra) and can be purchased here.

Saturday, September 25th

Lush Art Maker Market at Lush Art of Perry (10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

This free event in Perry will feature all kinds of art, wreaths, sweets, and jewelry. Attendees will receive a free raffle basket ticket. Masks are optional at this event.

Macon Pride 2021 Festival Progressive Decades Dance Party (7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)

This free Macon Pride 2021 Festival event will take place at Third Street Park and will be hosted by DJ B3 with adult beverages being supplied by JBA.

Sunday, September 26th

Worship & Family Picnic (12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

This event will take place on Coleman Hill and will close out the Macon Pride 2021 Festival. There will be a “multi-faith service” with spiritual leaders from multiple places of worship. There will also be live music and participants are invited to bring their own picnics and chairs.
