The free 21st Annual Deep Roots festival returns to Downtown Milledgeville on Saturday, October 19th.

This year Middle Georgia's own DireWoof, whose music pays tribute to the ultimate jam band, The Grateful Dead, as well as the spirit of southern rock, will be headlining this year's Deep Roots festival.

The festival will include more local and regional food trucks this year as well as a steak cook-off, kids' zone, artist market, and live music from other entertaining bands like Free Lance Ruckus, Stacii Adams, and Rafasan.

This year's headliner, DireWoof, was formed in 2020 as a side project by Milledgeville’s Alex Stone (Bass) and Sky Slates (Guitar) and the current lineup includes Christian Gibson (Sax/Keys), Dalton Love (Guitar), Hunter Pettis from Macon’s BAS, and auxiliary percussionist Shane Mantey, according to a recent Facebook post by the festival.

Several members of BAS, who recently played a free concert on Macon's Coleman Hill, are also members of DireWoof

Past artists who have performed at other Deep Roots Festivals include Blues Traveler, Trampled by Turtles, Moonshine Still, and Grace Potter.
