This week in Middle Georgia there are plenty of fun things going on. The weekend long Macon Film Festival returns to Macon on Friday, lots of food trucks will be coming to Warner Robins for an event for foodies on Thursdays, and much more. The following are just a few of the interesting events taking place this week.


MONDAY, AUGUST 14

Sunset Yoga at Quill at The Woodward (7:30. - 8:30 p.m.)

Yoga instructor Amy Winfrey will lead a “Rooftop Vin to Yin (and Gin!) Sunset Yoga class” Monday evening on the Quill Rooftop. This all-levels yoga class invites you to bring your yoga mat, enjoy fresh fruit snacks, and sip on gin cocktails (for attendees 21 and older). Tickets to Rooftop Vin to Yin (and Gin!) Sunset Yoga cost $25.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 15

478 Creatives Meetup - Brainwave: Creative Problem-Solving at St. Francis Episcopal Church (6 - 8 p.m.)

Mama Hawk Draws and Paint with Lush Art is hosting an event for Middle Georgia creatives this Tuesday. Attendees will be able to “share ideas, tackle challenges, and brainstorm solutions” both as artists and/or business owners.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16

Elizabeth Cook at Capricorn Sound Studios (7:30 p.m.)

100.9 The Creek and Visit Macon present an evening of live music with singer and songwriter Elizabeth Cook on Wednesday. Cook has been called a “sharp and surprising country singer” by the New York Times and released a much praised album (Aftermath) in 2020. There will also be a reception with light hors d’oeuvres starting at 6:30 p.m. before the music starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to see Elizabeth Cook perform live might be hard to come by as they are shown as being sold out online at the time of publication.

Elizabeth Cook’s song “These Days” was the first song she wrote for her Album “Aftermath”

Bingo and Taylor Swift Listening Party at Reboot Retrocade and Bar (8 p.m.)

Swifties can be found everywhere these days and this Wednesday a few of them will be congregating at Reboot to listen to Taylor Swift’s catchy music while playing free bingo. This event is for Swifties, and others who just love to hang out with friends and play bingo, who are 18 years old and older.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 17

More Than Cookies Summer Social at Fall Line Brewing Co. (6 p.m.)

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will be hosting their 2nd annual fundraiser this Thursday at Fall Line Brewing. This event for patrons 21 years and older will include “beer flight tasting, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and live music” as well as a raffle. Tickets to the More Than Cookies Summer Social start at $40.

Food Truck Roundup in Warner Robins (6 p.m.)

The City of Warner Robins is presenting the very first Food Truck Roundup this Thursday. This family-friendly event will include live music from Tres Hombres, a Kids Zone, Bounce Houses, Miss Daisy’s Foam Party, and more as well as more than a dozen food truck vendors. Attendees are invited to bring their own blankets or chairs to this free event to more comfortably enjoy the festivities.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18

Macon Magazine Women in Business Summer Session at the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce (9 a.m. - 2 p.m.)

Celebrate an event from Macon Magazine and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce on Friday that is all about “coworking and connection”, and of course the many hard working Women in Business in Macon. Vintage Market Days of Central Georgia presents “Grateful" at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter (9 a.m.)

Interior designers, decorators, and more than 80 dealers of vintage and antique goods, clothing, jewelry, plants, and more will be setting up shop at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter this weekend. "Grateful" is an indoor market will feature 70,000 square feet of shopping space and children 12 and under receive free entry. Ticket prices for Vintage Market Days start at $3.75 (please note that tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable, and not replaceable).

SL Sausage Co.’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting (1:30 p.m.)

SL Sausage Company is a family-owned butcher shop that celebrate a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony this Friday. The Macon Chamber will be on hand at this event that will include “prizes, delicious food …,slushies, and more”.

Macon Film Festival 2023 Special Screening: Pee Wee's Big Adventure (7 - 11 p.m.)

Macon Film Festival returns this week and with an opening night VIP party (from 7 until 9 p.m.) with food, drinks, and live music as well as a free screening of the cult comedy hit directed by Tim Burton “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” (1985). The screening starts at 9:00 p.m. at the museum’s outdoor amphitheater and guests are invited to bring picnic blankets and a “sense of adventure". This film was chosen to be screened in honor of the late Paul Reubens. The Macon Film Festival will also screen almost 100 films and ticket prices for the weekend long festival start at $10.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 19

Glassblowing Date Night at stARTup Studios (5 - 6 p.m.)

If you are looking for a fun activity to do on Saturday, or an adventurous date night, stARTup Studios is hosting a Glassblowing Date Night on Saturday. The art studio’s expert glassblowers will teach attendees how to create two stemless wine glasses or drinking glasses and a complimentary refreshment will be served when the finished glass pieces are picked up. Glassblowing Date Night is for those 12 years and older and cost $150 for two people. The glasses will be available for pick up during the next business day. Currently this class is showing as sold out online but those interested can join a waitlist for this popular class to be contacted in case spaces opens up for more students.

Ceramic Portrait Workshop at The 567 Center for Renewal (6 - 8 p.m.)

In this 3-part class, you'll learn how to make your own mask-style ceramic portrait. Heatherly Wakefield will teach a three part class on creating very unique ceramic portraits starting this Saturday. This class is for ages 16 and up. The Ceramic Portrait Workshop students will take place on August 19th, August 26th, and September 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets to the Ceramic Portrait Workshops cost $105 for non-members and $85 for members of The 567 Center for Renewal.

80’s Night at Cashman’s Pub (7 p.m.)

Cashman’s Pub’s 80's Night encourages fans of the 80’s (and those who survived that decade) and will include “free giveaways and drink specials” as well as plenty of 80’s music presented by DJ Zero.

Macon Film Festival 2023 Special Screening: Drumline at the Grand Opera House (7:15 - 10 p.m.)

The Macon Film Festival continues on Saturday and will feature a special screening of the movie "Drumline" at the historic The Grand Opera House. The screening will also include a Battle of the Bands event judged by Grammy award winner/film and music produced Dallas Austin (“ATL” and “Drumline”). This Macon Film Festival event is free to the public but tickets to the many other screenings at the 2023 Macon Film Fest start at $10.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 20

Fall Line's Clothing Exchange at Fall Line Station (1 - 5 p.m.)

Fall Line will celebrate of National Thrift Shop Day on Sunday with a unique pop-up, thrifting experience. Attendees will need to bring at least 5 pieces of quality clothing (odor free and with no holes or stains) from which they receive an entry ticket and 5 swap punches which can be used to pick out 5 pieces of clothing that others have brought to the event. If shoppers want more than 5 items, each additional piece of clothing can be purchased for $1 each. Macon’s Frankies boutique will also be onsite showing shoppers how to upcycle items by painting clothing to bring new life to it. Any items remaining after the event will be donated to the Brookdale Resource Center.

Macon Film Festival 2023 Workshop: From Stage to Screen - An Acting Workshop at the Capricorn Sound Studios and Museum (1 - 2 p.m.)

The Macon Film Festival continues on Sunday with a free acting workshop for all festival attendees. Actor Adam Fristoe (of Sweet Magnolias, The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, etc.) will teach acting techniques and and discuss facts about the film industry and acting careers. Tickets to the 2023 Macon Film Fest start at $10.
