Live Music Spotlight in Macon and Middle Georgia this Weekend

This weekend will bring plenty of entertaining events to Middle Georgia with the celebration of St. Patrick's Day and the International Cherry Blossom Festival. The following are just a few of the special events taking place today and tomorrow. May you have a lucky weekend and enjoy the idyllic spring weather.


SATURDAY, MARCH 16

THE SWINGIN’ MEDALLIONS AT MUSIC & MUNCHIES IN DUBLIN (5:30 - 10 p.m.)

Cash’s Juke Joint, a Macon band that plays a mix of blues, soul, funk, and rock, and The Swingin’ Medallions, who had a few popular songs, including “Double Shot (Of My Baby’s Love)”, will be performing for the lucky crowd at Music & Munchies. This event is Dublin’s unique version of a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. There will also be plenty of food to eat on while enjoying the live music. Tickets are $15 at the gate and children 5 years old and younger get in free.

GARRETT COX AT THE LAKE HOUSE AT OCONEE in EATONTON (6 p.m.)

Garrett Cox, who often performs popular covers while strumming an acoustic guitar, will be performing in Oconee Saturday night thanks to Wide Open Entertainment. The Lake House at Oconee is a music venue and gastropub with outdoor seating overlooking the peaceful Oconee River.

ST. DOLLY’S DAY DRAG BINGO AT REBOOT RETROCADE & BAR (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

This event includes Dolly Parton-themed bingo as well as a Dolly Parton costume contest, and a drag show. Yutoya Avazé Leon hosts and special guest Zoya Marx will be putting in an appearance. This event is for audiences 18 years old and older and there will be no cover for attendees 21 years and older.

JACKSON GRIFFITH AT BODEGA BREW IN PERRY (7 p.m.)

Jackson Griffith, a singer and songwriter based in Middle Georgia, will be performing at Perry’s Bodega Brew on Saturday evening. There is no cover charge at what is described as “Perry’s premiere coffee house and bar”.

COREY BROWN WITH LONDEE THE ARTIST AT SERENITY ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX (7 p.m.)

Savannah’s Corey Brown and the TCB Band will be playing a “smooth soulful mix” of rhythm and blues and jazz at Downtown Macon’s Serenity Entertainment Complex. Londee has toured around the world impressing audiences with her powerful singing voice and she will be accompanying Brown and the TCB Band. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $20 on eventbrite.com.

BEN ZACK & THE BOYS AT DUKE’S LOUNGE & DAWG HOUSE IN MILLEDGEVILLE (7 p.m.)

This performance of Ben Zack & The Boys will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day as well as the birthday of Andy Schulze and Laura Phillips. The band is made up of Sean McDonald on drums/vocals, Nick Neskovski on guitar/vocals, Matt Lupori on lead guitar, and Ben Zack on bass/vocals. Duke’s Lounge & Dawg House is located right next to the Oconee River.



FREE LANCE RUCKUS AT CASHMAN’S PUB (8 p.m.)

The busy Free Lance Ruckus will be performing at Downtown Macon’s Cashman’s Pub on Friday. The Middle Georgia band performs alternative Americana rock at busy venues like The Society Garden and Buffington’s.

STAND UP COMEDY NIGHT AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (10 p.m.)

Ebony the Comedian will be the special guest at this night of comedy at the venue and bar Friends on the HILL this Saturday night. This show is for audiences 21 years old and older and Ramon will host. There is no cover charge for this comedy event.

END OF THE LINE AT CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)

The Allman Brothers tribute band End of the Line will be performing sweet, peachy tunes at the Capitol Theatre on Saturday. General Admission tickets cost $20 online at this link.

SPRING DRAG SHOW AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 - 10:30 p.m.)

This The Tribe drag show at The Society Garden called “Yee-Toy-Haw 2” will have a country theme so wear your cowboy hats and big belt buckles. Tickets cost $15 online and $20 at the door.

BIRTHDAY JAM FOR JELLY ELEPHANT FOUNDER BRAY CARR IN GORDON (8 p.m.)

The Jelly Elephant, the uniquely named live music venue that presents a live music jam every Saturday, will have a special session this Saturday to celebrate the birthday of Bray Carr. Carr founded Jelly Elephant. There will also be cake so make sure to bring an appetite for good music and sweet foods.

PARMALEE AT THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL (8 p.m.)

Parmalee is a country music band formed in 2001 in Parmele, North Carolina. They will be performing as one of the nightly performers at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Carolyn Crayton Park (aka Central City Park). Tickets to the festival, which cost $10 at the gate (children 10 and younger get in free), allow you to attend the nightly concerts as well.

ROBERT LEE COLEMAN AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Robert Lee Coleman, who is just one of the musical legends who live in Macon, will be performing soulful blues and funk music at Grant’s Lounge. Tickets cost $10 online or at the door.

MATT MCMILLAN & THE CITY LIMITS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Matt McMillan & The City Limits will be playing popular country and classic rock songs at Billy’s Clubhouse early into Sunday morning this weekend. Billy’s Clubhouse is the North Macon bar and music venue that proudly refuses to charge a cover.

MODERN ALIBI AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

The Hummingbird will be celebrating St. Patty’s Day with loud music, cheap beverages, and lots of green late Saturday night. Modern Alibi is an alternative rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina. Attendees are encouraged to wear their luckiest green clothing. There will be a $5 cover at the door.

LAYLO THE DJ AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Another late-night performance will take place at Friends on the HILL with DJ Laylo on the turntables. This event is for music lovers 21 and older and there is no cover charge.


SUNDAY, MARCH 17

THE SHADE TREES AND LIVE IRISH MUSIC AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (1 p.m.)

Daniel NeSmith and The Shade Trees will be performing at The Society Garden’s St. Patty’s Day celebration on Sunday starting at 4 p.m. There will also be “live Irish music” starting at 1 p.m. Be sure to wear your greenest outfit to celebrate the occasion.

LIVE MARCHING BANDS AT THE CHERRY BLOSSOM PARADE IN DOWNTOWN MACON (3 p.m.)

The Cherry Blossom Festival Parade will include multiple marching bands, floats, and lots of smiling people. The parade’s route this year will start at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cherry Street, then travel down Cherry Street to turn right on First Street to Mulberry Street and end where it started. Get there early if you want to find a comfortable space to sit with a good view.

KOUNTRY WAYNE AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7:30 p.m.)

Kountry Wayne is a Christian comedian, actor, and writer who will be performing on the Macon City Auditorium stage on Sunday evening. Tickets start at $36.50 on ticketmaster.com.
