The last weekend of April is upon us and it will be one full of celebration and music. On Saturday, The Jelly Elephant in Gordon will host an art and music street party, the 35th Annual Jazz Fest will take place at Georgia College & State University, and the Turnpike Troubadours will fill the large Atrium Health Amphitheater with country music all on Saturday. The following events are just a few of the ways you can stay entertained this weekend in the heart of Georgia.
FRIDAY, APRIL 26
TRIAL BY FIRE (JOURNEY TRIBUTE) IN PERRY (7 - 10 p.m.)
The Journey tribute band Trial by Fire will perform at a free concert in Perry’s Heritage Oaks Park as part of the Perry Presents Lawn Concert Series. Journey is a rock band that was formed in 1973 by previous members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch that produced hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Open Arms”. Outside coolers are allowed and bringing lawn chairs and picnic blankets is encouraged by the organizers.
DUSTIN MCCOOK AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (7:30 - 10 p.m.)
Dustin McCook will be rocking out on his guitar at The Society Garden on Friday night. McCook is the singer/guitarist for the band The Dustin McCook Trio.
TIE DYED PROPHETS AT MAIN ST. BAR IN PERRY (8:30 - 11:30 p.m.)
The Tie Dyed Prophets is a Middle Georgia band that plays covers of music from the Allman Brothers Band, Pink Floyd, Buddy Guy, and others. There is no cover charge at Main St. Bar.
EDDIE 9V AND THE KATIE SKENE BAND AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)
The blues guitarist and singer Eddie 9 Volt (aka Eddie 9V) will be performing at Grant’s Lounge on Friday night. The Katie Skene Band, who play blues and Americana band, will also be performing as a special guest. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets to see Eddie 9V and The Katie Skene Band cost $20 online at this link or at the door.

LUKE BROWN & THE JUBILEE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
Luke Brown & The Jubilee is a country rock and roll band out of Atlanta. There will be a cover charge of $5 for this show.
BRANDO, SWERVE, AND B3 AT THE BASS BALL AT JBA (10 p.m.)
Three DJs, Brando, Swerve, and B3, will be serving up bass music including dubstep, trap, house, EDM, and more late Friday night at JBA. The cover charge for those 18 to 20 is $10 and $5 for those 21 and older.

SATURDAY, APRIL 27
GOOD HOUSE AT JELLY ELEPHANT ART & MUSIC STREET MARKET IN GORDON (3 - 10 p.m.)
The Jelly Elephant live music venue will be holding their first Art & Music Street Market on Saturday with live music from Good House starting before 7 p.m. Afterward, a music jam starts at 8 p.m. according to the venue. There will also be art, musical instruments, a raffle, and more. This event is free to attend.
35TH ANNUAL JAZZFEST AT GEORGIA COLLEGE & STATE UNIVERSITY (1:30 - 8:30 p.m.)
Georgia College & State University’s Music Department and Allied Arts will present the 35th Annual Jazzfest this Saturday with live music from the Georgia College Alumni Band, the Georgia College Jazz Band with trumpeter and singer Joe Gransden as well as performances from middle and high school bands. There will also be painting, word working, and jewelry-making demonstrations. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to this free, family-friendly event.
DJ T.K.S. AT HIGHTALES ROOFTOP BAR (7 - 10 p.m.)
DJ T.K.S., a musician from Brooklyn, will be performing on the rooftop bar at Hotel Forty Five on Saturday night. DJ T.K.S. will be playing dancehall, house, hip-hop, and more. There is no cover charge at Hotel Forty Five’s rooftop bar.
TURNPIKE TROUBADOURS WITH THE RED CLAY STRAYS AND BRENT COBB AT THE ATRIUM HEALTH AMPHITHEATER (7 p.m.)
The Moonhanger Group and Mammoth present this concert featuring the country music band Turnpike Troubadours. Red Clay Strays and Brent Cobb are two other country music acts that will be performing at this concert at the new amphitheater in Macon. General admission lawn tickets start at $32.50 on ticketmaster.com.
AMERICA’S TOP 40: HITS FROM THE 60s, 70s,AND 80s AT THE WARNER ROBINS LITTLE THEATRE (7:30 p.m.)
The talented performers at the Warner Robins Little Theatre will perform hit songs from the 1960s through 1980s starting on Saturday. The show will end on May 12th after eight showings. General admission tickets start at $20 online at this link.
PURPLE MADNESS (PRINCE TRIBUTE) AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 - 10:30 p.m.)
Purple Madness returns to perform at The Society Garden this weekend. This Prince tribute band always brings out a big crowd when they come to town. VIP tickets, which include a buffet according to the venue, are currently the only ones available on eventbrite.com and they start at $65.
DALTON DOVER AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (8 p.m.)
Country music singer/songwriter Dalton Dover, who hails from Rome, Georgia, will perform at historic Grant’s Lounge on Saturday night. The doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $12 online at this link or at the door.
DJ HIT PLAY AT THE PATIO AT RIGBY’S IN WARNER ROBINS (8:30 p.m. - 12 a.m.)
DJ Hit Play will perform at The Patio at Rigby’s Crab and Margarita Fest starting at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a “Reverse Happy Hour” (which is a happy hour that occurs after the traditional happy hour times) from 8:30 until 10 p.m.
BOZWELLZ AT MAIN ST. BAR IN PERRY (8:30 - 11:30 p.m.)
The Bozwellz is a band from Middle Georgia that specializes in playing music that “makes you feel better.” Main St. Bar does not have a cover charge.
UNIVERSAL FUNK ORCHESTRA AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
The funk/electronic music band Universal Funk Orchestra (U.F.O.) will be bringing their unique sound to The Hummingbird late Saturday. The cover charge for this show is $5 at the door.
DJ D3MO AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
DJ D3MO will be spinning dubstep, house, and drum and bass music at Buffington’s late Saturday evening. There is no cover charge at Buffington’s.
SUNDAY, APRIL 28
MAURICE DURUFLE'S "REQUIEM" AT MULBERRY STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (4 p.m.)
The Townsend School of Music’s Dean Gary Gerber will conduct the Choral Society of Middle Georgia, the Mercer University Choir and Mercer Singers, and the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church Choir as they perform Maurice Durufle’s “Requiem” on Sunday. Tickets to this musical event cost $10 online at this link.
