Fans of live music, family-friendly fun, hot food, and cold drinks have plenty of events to choose from this week. Downtown Macon will be bustling with activity during its First Friday celebration and plenty of other Middle Georgia cities will host unique events where you can celebrate the arrival of spring while relaxing with family, friends, and neighbors. The following are just a few of the unique events taking place in Middle Georgia this week.
MONDAY, March 31st
Spring Break Art Camp at Artspace Macon (3/31-4/4) (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Artspace Macon will host a Spring Break Art Camp starting Monday , March 31st, and running through Friday, April 4th. Each half-day session will explore a famous artist or art movement at this camp for kids ages 7 to 12. Artists to be explored include Pablo Picasso (Monday), Kandinsky (Tuesday), and Friday Kahlo (Thursday). Ticket prices include supplies, guided instruction, and a snack. Tickets for Artspace Macon’s Spring Break Art Camp cost $40 for a daily session and $180 for the full course of sessions and both can be purchased at this link.

MUSIC: Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)
The last Macon-Mercer Symphony of the season will take place on Monday with performers from Mercer University’s McDuffie Center Young Artists who will collaborate with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians. The guest conductor will be Yaniv Segal, who has conducted orchestras all around the world, and Mercer University Concerto Competition Winner Hanami Froom will perform an iconic Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concert, according to The Piedmont Grand Opera House. Bluey at Giggle Town in Warner Robins (5-6 p.m.)
Spring Break can mean boredom without something fun to do. The character Bluey (from the popular kid’s show with the same name) will be at Giggle Town on Monday. Giggle Town is an indoor playground where young kids can explore and play in a safe environment. Expect Bluey songs and photo opportunities. Guests are reminded to bring socks to play in. Entry to Giggle Town for unlimited play cost $10 for kids under 2 years old and $20 for kids from 2 to 8 years old.

TUESDAY, April 1st
Spring Break Hawaiian Luau at Monkey Joe’s in Warner Robins (3/31-4/4)
Monkey Joe’s will be celebrating a Spring Break Hawaiian Luau from Monday through Friday this week. Monkey Joe’s has a dedicated toddler area, arcade games, a full concessions menu, and more. This event will include tropical-themed games and crafts for the whole family, according to Monkey Joe’s. Entry to Monkey Joe’s cost $12.49 per child and adults get in free.

WEDNESDAY, April 2nd
SHOPPING: 2025 Spring/Summer Consignment Sale at the Georgia Army National Guard Armory in Milledgeville (4/2-4/5) (10 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Milledgeville Exchange will hold its Spring and Summer sale of children and women’s clothing and more from Wednesday, April 2nd, through Saturday, April 5th, and sellers and volunteers get to shop early at a pre-sale event. MUSIC: Pecos & The Rooftops at The Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.)
Eddie and the Getaway will open the show for Pecos & The Rooftop, an energetic band that blends rock, folk, and alt-country influences together for a unique sound. Eddie and the Getaway play high-energy rock mixed with blues. This concert is presented by Moonhanger Presents and Six String Southern Productions. THURSDAY, April 3rd
ENTERTAINMENT: Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue (7 p.m.)
This Golden Girls show is a bit edgier than the original iconic series with Sophia out of jail on bail, after being busted by the DEA and Blanche and Rose creating a Tinder-like app for seniors. MUSIC: Voctave at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville (7:30 p.m.)
Voctave’s is an 11-member acapella group that sings songs from Disney movies and Broadway plays. Tickets to see Voctave in concert start at $25 (plus fees) online at this link.

MUSIC: Faculty Recital - Monty Cole at Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)
On Thursday, there will be a faculty recital with Townsend School of Music's Professor of Music Dr. Monty Cole, Dr. Brittan Braddock (clarinet), and Dr. Kyung-A Yoo (piano) playing music by composers Weber and Poulenc as well as the playful Red Light, Green Light by Eunseon Liu. This recital is free to the public.

FRIDAY, April 4th
ART: 478 Group Exhibition at Macon Arts Alliance (4-7 p.m.)
478 Creatives and Macon Arts Alliance will present an exhibit of artwork from local creatives on Friday. This exhibit will run from April 4th through April 25th. The Macon Arts Alliance’s art gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SHOPPING: The Milly Market in Milledgeville (4-7 p.m.)
Buy fresh produce, baked goods, and more at The Milly Market, a farmers market in Milledgeville that takes place the first and third Friday of each month through October 3rd.

First Friday in Downtown Macon
As with each First Friday in Downtown Macon, there will be special events, like an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt that will start at Just Tap’d where participants will search for eggs at participating businesses for a chance to win a Golden Egg (and a $200 3rd & Cherry gift card).
The First Friday Art Crawl this week will include the opening of an exhibit of local artist Stacey Swann at the 567 Center called “Used” from 5 to 8 p.m. as well as the 478 Creatives art exhibit at the Macon Arts Alliance (see description above). Last but definitely not least, another Good Medicine event, titled April Awakenings, will take place in Third Street Park starting at 5 p.m. This family-friendly event will include a silent disco (with open decks), flow arts (think hula hoops), an arts market, and garden activities. SHOPPING: Spring Market at Quill at The Woodward Hotel (5-8 p.m.)
Quill at The Woodward Hotel will present an evening of shopping with “Spring-themed vendors and seasonal cocktails on Friday night. This event is free to attend.

Food Truck Friday at Center Park in Centerville (5:30-9 p.m.)
There will be a Food Truck Friday at Center Park on Friday. Along with live entertainment from DJ Partyman (6-9 p.m.), expect food and beverages from vendors like Jail Creek Farms Winery, Peewee Bakery Sweets, Bearfoot Tavern, and more. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

SPORTS: Macon Mayhem vs. Huntsville Havoc - Golf Night at the Macon Coliseum (7 p.m.)
Macon’s professional hockey team, the Macon Mayhem, will face off against the Huntsville Havoc team on Friday. The theme for the night will be Golf Night and attendees should expect to hear and see plenty of Happy Gilmore impressions during this game. If you can’t make it to the game on Friday, the Mayhem will be celebrating the birthday of mascot Mac on Saturday, hopefully with a win against the Huntsville Havoc, starting at 6 p.m. Tickets for either game start as low as $13 (plus fees) online at this link.

MUSIC: Mercer University Harp Ensemble - Animated at Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)
Calista Koch will direct the Mercer University Harp Ensemble for a recital on Friday that will include music “from the world of make-believe” including video games and movies. This recital is free and open to the public

MUSIC: Corb Lund + Hayes Carll at The Capitol Theatre (8 p.m.)
Country and folk fans won’t want to miss Corb Lund and Hayes Carll as they bring their Bible on the Dash tour to Macon’s Capitol Theatre. Expect an evening of storytelling and top-tier songwriting from these two musicians. The Macon Sound will be taking the stage at The Bird on Friday night and into early Saturday morning. The Macon Sound is a party band known for covers of songs made by the many iconic musicians who have called Macon their home. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this show.

SATURDAY, April 5th
Mickey and Minnie at Giggle Town in Warner Robins (10-11:30 a.m.)
Loveable characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be doing a meet and greet at Giggle Town on Saturday morning. There will be a private event starting at 9 a.m. and then the doors will open to the public at 12 p.m. Attendees must sign up to secure a spot at this link and tickets cost $10 for 0 to 1-year-olds and $20 for 2 to 8-year-olds (with members getting in free by calling the store to reserve a spot).

Castle of Knots Goes to Gottwal’s Books of Middle Georgia (11 a.m.-1 p.m.)
Local author Sara Fowler will be signing copies of her debut book Castle of Knots on Saturday. Castle of Knots currently has 5 out of 5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads and tells the story of a princess, a knight (who just might be mom), and an adventure. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

StoryWalk Opening at the Native Plant Garden at Amerson River Walk (11 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Celebrate the launch of the new StoryWalk at Amerson River Park featuring The Garden Next Door by Collin Pine, a picture book about three children learning about their yard and the natural world that surrounds them. Families can enjoy crafts and activities at the Native Plant Garden while supplies last. This event is free and open to the public.

2nd Annual Macon Taco and Tequila Bar Crawl in Downtown Macon (5-10 p.m.)
Adults will enjoy a celebratory fiesta in downtown Macon on Saturday night with tacos, tequila, margaritas, and live music as part of the 2nd Annual Macon Taco and Tequila Bar Crawl. General admission tickets include four tacos, drink specials, and access to all participating bars while VIP tickets include an exclusive t-shirt, an extra taco, and early registration. Jackson Tanner, of Jackson Tanner Trio fame, will once again perform on the big stage at The Society Garden on Saturday evening. There is normally a cover charge at the gate to help support the musicians during live performances at The Society Garden.

SUNDAY, April 6th
Middle Georgia Derby Demons vs. Peach State Roller Derby at Olympia Skating Rink in Warner Robins (10 a.m.-12 p.m.)
The exciting sport of roller derby returns to Middle Georgia this Sunday. Watch the Middle Georgia Derby Demons take on Peach State Roller Derby in a high-energy match. Tickets cost $10 in advance online at this link or at the door and children under 5 get in free.

Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday Concert Series: Buster Chrome on Coleman Hill (6-8 p.m.)
Enjoy a free outdoor concert with scenic downtown Macon views on Sunday with a free concert from Bragg Jam and a live performance from Buster Chrome. Attendees can bring kids, blankets, picnics, and even furry friends (on a leash). Bragg Jam will be making a big announcement at this concert, which to be accurate falls on the first Sunday of the month (but that won’t be what the secret announcement will be about). Tents and grills are not allowed at the Second Sunday concerts. This family-friendly event is free to attend.
