This weekend, you can get a free behind-the-scenes tour of the newest projects coming to Downtown Macon, celebrate Oktoberfest in Downtown Griffin, learn more about prostate cancer while enjoying cold adult beverages at the Macon Beer Fest, and much more. The following are just a few of the fun, unique (and often free) things to do this weekend in the heart of Georgia.
FRIDAY, October 10th
RACE: Robins Fire and Emergency Services’ Hero Trot 5K/Fun-Run at the Robins AFB Fitness Trail (7:30 a.m.)
Robins Fire and Emergency Services is celebrating National Fire Prevention Week by hosting it's 2nd Annual HeroTrot 5k and FunRun. Racers dressed as their favorite superheroes will race along with local first responders. The first 100 participants will receive a free Fire Prevention Week T-shirt. NewTown Macon’s Tour of Progress 2025 (5-8 p.m.)
Take a behind-the-scenes tour of some of the most recent and exciting projects in Downtown Macon on NewTown Macon’s Tour of Progress 2025. Family-friendly tours will leave from the Otis Redding Center for the Arts every 10 minutes, and tours are first-come, first-served. Peach Co. Parks and Recreation’s Fall Festival in South Peach Park (6-10 p.m.)
The Peach County Recreation Department will host a a Fall Festival with a trunk-or-treat and movie at South Peach Park this Friday night. Visitors will take part in family-friendly activities, enjoy live entertainment, and more. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

HISTORY: Voices of the Past Lantern Tour at the Jarrell Plantation Historical Site (10/10-10/12) (6:45, 8:30 p.m.)
The Jarrell Plantation Historical Site will be open after dark for a series of guided lantern tours from Friday, October 10th through Sunday, October 11th. Attendees will hear true stories while visiting the historic buildings which will be lit with only flickering candlelight. Tickets can be purchased at a 20% discount by calling Jarrell Plantation Historical Site’s office at (478) 986-5172 Thursdays through Sundays). Participants should be aware that the tour is an approximately 1.5 hour, half-mile walk on hilly terrain with limited light. SCIENCE: Astronomy in the Park at Indian Springs State Park (7 p.m.)
Indian Springs State Park and the Flint River Astronomy Club present an evening of stargazing and astronomical education from the top of the park’s scenic dam this Saturday. A $5 park pass is required per vehicle to enter Indian Springs State Park.

MUSIC: I Spy: For Your Ears Only from the Macon Pops at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)
Macon Pops presents “I Spy: For Your Ears Only” this Saturday at the Piedmont Grand Opera House. This spy-themed concert will feature the exciting music of James Bond, the thrilling sounds of Mission: Impossible, and more. Guests are encouraged to dress up just like a spy might when trying to blend in while attending an event in a historic music venue like the Grand Opera House. SATURDAY, October 11th
FISHING: Tobesofkee Open at Lake Tobosofkee (6:30 a.m.-3 p.m.)
The GA Boys Tournament Trail fishing club will host its annual Tobesofkee Open fishing tournament this Saturday at Lake Tobosofkee. Weigh-in is at 3 p.m. with a raffle taking place after weigh-in. Entry into the Tobesofkee Open cost $80 per boat, with the winner receiving 80% of the proceeds.

Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash from One Health Clinic at Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)
The People & Pets Project invites pet owners (and their humans) to come by the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity on Saturday for free veterinary wellness checks, vaccinations, and microchips for cats and dogs, as well as healthcare screenings for humans. Attendees can also schedule a future spay or neuter appointment that cost an affordable $25 for cats and $35 for dogs.

2nd Saturday Oktoberfest in Downtown Griffin (10 a.m.)
The City of Griffin will host its 2nd Saturday Oktoberfest, presented by Hoshizaki America, this week with “art, crafts, food, music, and more”. Vendors will be selling items like handcrafted gifts, boutique clothing, specialty foods, more. Starting at 7 p.m., the band Are You Kind will perform as part of the 2nd Saturday Concert Series in Griffin’s Park at Sixth. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets for their comfort during this Oktoberfest celebration. The 2nd Saturday Oktoberfest and 2nd Saturday Concert are free and open to the public.

Native Plant Sale at Wesleyan Market (11 a.m.-3 p.m.)
The Fringed Campion Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society’s chapter members will be teaching shoppers about native plant gardening as well as selling a wide selection of native plants at the Wesleyan Market this Saturday. The Wesleyan Market is a farmers market takes place every 2nd Saturday of each month in the Wesleyan College parking lot on the corner of Tucker Road and Forsyth Road.

HISTORY: 18th Annual Seven Islands Archaeology Day in Memory of W.J. Shannon at the Indian Springs Hotel Museum (12-4 p.m.)
The Ocmulgee Archaeological Society and Butts County Historical Society, Inc. hosts the annual Archaeology Day at Indian Springs this Saturday. Visitors will get a chance to take part in activities that include artifact identification, pottery-making, tours of the Indian Springs Hotel Museum, and more. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Teru Teru Kandi Circle at Hello Boba Cafe (2-4 p.m.)
Cafe Heart Projects and Hello Boba Cafe will present the Teru Teru Kandi Circle this Saturday where participants will make Teru Teru Bozu charms and Kandi bracelets. The Teru Teru Kandi Circle is free and open to the public.

Macon Beer Fest 2025 (3-7 p.m.)
The 15th annual Macon Beer Fest will take place in Historic Downtown Macon this Saturday (and from 2 to 7 p.m. for VIP ticket holders). Attendees 21 and older will be able to try 100 varieties of beers and wine. All attendees will be able to enjoy shopping at the festival’s arts and craft vendors’ booths and listening to live music. The Macon Beer Festival is presented by Pints for Prostate event whose goal is to promote awareness and education about prostate cancer. General admission tickets to Macon Beer Fest 2025 cost $42.49, with additional tickets, including VIP tickets, tickets for Friday Night Rock and Pub Crawls, and a Beer Run (as well as free tickets for a costume contest, Super Hero Dash for Dad, a Beer Obstacle Course, and a Significant Other Calling Contest) which can all be found online at this link.

Witchy Craft 2025 in Griffin (3 p.m.)
Witchy Craft 2025 is described by its organizer as “a gathering of artisans, healers, and makers celebrating arts, holistic wellness, and handcrafted creations.” Attendees will be able to browse local art and handmade gifts as well as purchase items like crystals, energy tools, herbal blends, while enjoying healthy food from onsite food trucks. Twiggs County Country Festival (3-8 p.m.)
Twiggs County Country Festival is a country festival that includes live gospel music, food vendor trucks, and more than 40 local vendors selling items like airbrushed tees, fresh eggs, raw milk, homemade bread, vegetables and fruit, crafts, cinnamon rolls, preserves, woodworking, and more. Mummies and Mules Halloween Festival (4 p.m.)
The Magnolia Mule Barn will present its 2nd annual Mummies & Mules Halloween Festival this Saturday with local vendors, food, activities, and a screening of the movie “Hocus Pocus.” Reservations to the Mummies and Mules Halloween Festival cost $5 per person (kids 4 and under get in free) and you can make payments via Venmo (@MagnoliaMuleBarn) or Cashapp ($MagnoliaMule) with total number in your attending party in the details.

Feral Fever presents Folklore and Fairytales at Friends on the HILL (9-11 p.m.)
Feral Fever will present a “magical night of storytelling, music, and art inspired by folklore and fairytales” this Saturday at Warner Robins’ Friends on the HILL. SUNDAY, October 12th
Bees, Blues, & Bread at The Country Estate - Williamson (2-6 p.m.)
Guests at Bees, Blues, & Bread will get a chance to meet the local beekeeper behind Glanton's Gold Honey and purchase quality local honey and homemade bread from La Panetteria while listening to blues music. This unique event will take place on The Country Estate’s pavilion, which overlooks a field of day-lilies. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

MUSIC: Bragg Jam's Second Sunday Concert Series with Jozee Moton on Coleman Hill (6-8 p.m.)
Jozee Moton is a Minneapolis-based rhythm and blues/soul singer and songwriter whose sound was influenced by artists like Prince, Jill Scott, and Common. Moton will perform for Middle Georgians as they gather with friends and family, dine from picnic baskets, and relax in camping chairs on Downtown Macon's Coleman Hill. This family-friendly concert is free and open to the public.
