A new year will bring some potentially record-breaking high temperatures. Friday and Saturday will bring high chances of rain showers, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, skygazers can get a good view of massive Jupiter on Saturday. The following is a day-by-day weather and astronomy forecast for this week in the heart of Georgia.

      Partly sunny skies with a high temperature near 72. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning with wind gusts as high as 15 mph.

      SATURDAY, January 10th

      Jupiter in Full Opposition: Jupiter, that huge planet full of hydrogen and helium that weighs more than twice as much as all the other planets in our solar system, will be easy to see on Saturday. Jupiter will be in the east sky at sunset and will be at its highest in the sky around midnight.
