Monday will be full of parades and other celebrations of Martin Luther King Jr. throughout Middle Georgia. The All American Circus will arrive in Forsyth this Monday as well. Macon events include several free live music shows, two comedy shows, and much more. The following are just a few of the entertaining, interesting, and fun things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, January 19th
>> Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The legacy of Civil Rights movement leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated all around Middle Georgia and the country on Monday with acts of service, like Greenwood Bottom's Day of Service Community Cleanup, several parades, including one at Macon’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School (1:30 p.m.), in Downtown Dublin (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and at McRae’s Corinth CME Church (10 a.m.), and special events with speakers and food. Justice Verda M. Colvin will speak at Mercer University’s Willet Science Center auditorium in Macon from 6 to 8 p.m. and Chick-fil-A’s Director of Federal Government Relations Brian Boutte will appear at Georgia Military College’s NewDay USA Center of Leadership at 8 a.m. Macon’s Tubman Museum will also present MLK Day with speakers including County Commissioner Stanley Stewart and others ($5 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.). Martin Luther King Jr. Day is also celebrated by many as a day to volunteer and improve their communities in honor of Dr. King's powerful legacy.

Macon-Bibb County, the MLK Commission, and community partners will march from Macon’s City Hall to Steward Chapel AME Church. Once the marchers reach the Steward Chapel AME Church, a special ceremony will take place. This MLK Day event is free and open to the public.

>> SOCCER: Winter Elite ID Camp from Brad Ruzzo Soccer Camps (1-6 p.m.)
Brad Ruzzo Soccer Camps Winter Elite ID Camp helps college athletes, especially those who want to play at Mercer University, train with professional coaches, and receive feedback to help them improve their game. The camp on Monday starts with students being dropped off at Mercer University’s soccer field and will include a technical session, competitive games with tactical applications, and full-sided games. >> All American Circus at Monroe County Parks and Recreation (7-8:30 p.m.)
The All American Circus will be at Monroe County Parks and Recreation on Monday. Circus goers can play in a kids' fun zone, get their faces painted, and jump in a bounce house, according to organizers. The acrobatic Rosales family, a Ring of Death with skilled motorcycle riders, and clowns will keep guests entertained. TUESDAY, January 20th
>> COMEDY: An Evening with Larry The Cable Guy (7:30 p.m.)
Comedian Daniel Lawrence Whitney, better known as Larry The Cable Guy, will perform at the Macon City Auditorium on Tuesday night. Whitney was once a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour along with Bill Engvaill, Ron White, and Jeff Foxworthy, and has released 7 comedy albums. Tickets to see Larry The Cable Guy start at $41.60 on ticketmaster.com at the time of publication.

>> MUSIC: Unseen Horizons: The. Depths of Love, Longing, and Disappointment in Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)
The faculty of Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music will present Unseen Horizons: The Depths of Love, Longing, and Disappointment in Fickling Hall this Tuesday. This recital will feature music from tenor Richard Kosowski and pianist Timothy McReynolds as they perform Schumann's Dichterliebe, Op. 48 and Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte, Op. 98. Unseen Horizons is free and open to the public.

>> Soirée: a Macon Magazine Women About Business Gathering at the Tubman Museum (4-6 p.m.)
Macon Magazine, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, will present Soirée at the Tubman African American Museum on Wednesday night for women and those who want to work with women. The theme of the evening will be mentorship’s purpose, impact, and who makes it real, according to Macon Magazine. >> SparkMacon’s 2026 Macon-Bibb Small Business Readiness at the Macon Mall (6-7 p.m.)
Macon-Bibb’s Small Business Readiness Series is a step-by-step program for those in Macon-Bibb County who want to be entrepreneurs, as well as those who have just started out on the path of entrepreneurship. Attendees will gain an understanding of what it takes to start, legalize, and grow a business locally. This free monthly series is made available through SparkMacon’s partnership with the Macon-Bibb Office of Small Business Affairs.

>> Trivia Night at Longleaf Distillery (7 p.m.)
Patrons at Macon’s Longleaf Distillery can compete in Trivia Night on Wednesday. Players can team up with old friends or make new acquaintances to compete on a team with. This trivia event is free to attend.

THURSDAY, January 22nd
>> COMEDY: Bored Teachers “Is It Friday Yet?!” Comedy Tour at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)
Teachers who are also comedians will perform on the stage at The Piedmont Grand Opera House during the Bored Teachers' Is It Friday Yet?! comedy show this Thursday. The comedians might use some PG-13 language, so this show isn’t for all ages. Tickets to the Is It Friday Yet?! comedy show start at $39+ online at this link.

>> MUSIC: Bragg Jamuary at JBA (8-11 p.m.)
Bragg Jam’s college-aged Battle of the Bands, Bragg Jamuary, returns to JBA this Thursday night with performances from Robin Callaway (9 p.m.), Strictly Liquid (9:45 p.m.), and Ashes (10:30 p.m.). Bragg Jamuary takes place every Thursday in January and features twelve bands in total. Fans can vote for their favorite band for $1, either in person at JBA (where the vote counts 5 times) or online at this link. The winning band receives $1,500 and opens at the Capitol Theatre during the 2026 Bragg Jam Concert Crawl. Doors open at 8 p.m. with the music starting at 9 p.m. The final concert will include a performance from each of the bands that received the most votes for their performances, with the voting round for the finalists will take place from February 5th through 11th. All Bragg Jamuary shows are free to attend.

>> Terrarium Workshop at Switch Macon (6:45 p.m.)
Fig & Ivy Plant Shop will present a unique terrarium workshop at one Macon’s Switch Macon this Thursday evening. Attendees will create a terrarium, a glass container with soil and plants inside, at one of Downtown Macon's newest drinking establishments. Tickets to Fig & Ivy Plant Shop’s Terrarium Workshop cost $75 and can be purchased online at this link.
