Presidents' Day on Monday means many will have a day off from work or school, and a chance to do something a little different. Throughout the week, the adventurous can find a part-time job, celebrate family, friendship, or love at unique events, or learn more about the South's hidden nuclear past. The following are just a few of the more interesting, unique, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.

>> Presidents’ Day Play Days at Monkey Joe’s (2/16-2/17) (10 a.m.-7 p.m.)
Monkey Joe’s can keep kids busy having fun on Monday, Presidents’ Day, and Tuesday with unlimited bouncing and play, surprise prizes, and giveaways. Walk-ins are welcome for this event. Monkey Joe’s is for kids up to 12 years old and features arcade games, concessions, private party rooms, and more. Entry to Monkey Joe’s cost $12.99 per child, and their adults get in free.

>> Mother-Son Date at Rigby’s Entertainment Complex (2-5 p.m.)
Mothers and sons can share some fun bonding experiences during the Mother-Son Date at Rigby’s on Monday. This event includes unlimited activities such as skating, bowling, laser tag, mini golf, and arcade games. Tickets to the Mother-Son Date cost $51.75 online.

TUESDAY, February 17th
>> Hiring Event at the Macon Coliseum (5-7 p.m.)
Part-time jobs are available with the Macon Coliseum, Macon City Auditorium, and Atrium Health Amphitheater at this hiring event in the Macon Coliseum’s lobby on Tuesday. Roles include: Suite Attendant, Bartender, Food & Beverage Lead, Ticket Seller, Dishwasher, Sous Chef, and more. Applicants must apply online at this link. There is no charge to attend this hiring event.

You can decorate brownies and make bracelets at the Chick-fil-A in Milledgeville on Tuesday. The restaurant will supply the bracelet supplies. There is no fee to attend this community event.

>> The Great Valentines Wine Mixer at Switch Macon (6-9 p.m.)
One of Downtown Macon’s newest drinking establishments, Switch Macon, will host the Great Valentines Wine Mixer on Tuesday. This event for those 21 and older includes curated wine tastings from Georgia Crown & Eagle Rock, tasty artisan charcuterie from Ooh La La, discounted wine ordering and purchases from Carriage Hills Liquor Store, and more. Tickets for the Great Valentine's Wine Mixer start at $63 per ticket.

WEDNESDAY, February 18th
>> MUSIC: Broadway: Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock N Roll Part 2 at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (2/18-2/19) (7:30-10:30 p.m.)
Music fans can listen to rock and roll hits from the 1940s through the early 1980s at Neil Berg’s 50 Years of Rock N Roll Part 2 this Wednesday. Neil Berg, along with performers from some of Broadway’s rock musicals and rock and roll singers, will tell the story of the last 50 years of rock and roll with music from greats like Little Richard, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Fleetwood Mac. Tickets to the shows on Wednesday or Thursday start at $47+ online.

THURSDAY, February 19th
>> Anansi the Spider Puppet Show at Shurling Library (5 p.m.)
Artist, puppeteer, and community advocate Rudy Mendez will present a puppet show that tells the story of Anansi the Spider. The Akan people from present-day southern Ghana have long included stories of Anansi the Spider in their religion and folklore. There is no charge for this fun educational event.

Author Caroline Ross Peyton will speak about her book, “Radioactive Dixie: A Nuclear History of the American South,” at the Historic Macon Foundation on Thursday evening. Peyton will discuss little-known facts, such as that the South has more nuclear reactors than any other region in the United States, as well as the effects it has had on the economy and environment. Tickets for this event are free online with registration.
