Adventures in the Heart of Georgia: Things to Do this Week in Macon and Greater Middle Georgia

Middle Georgia adventurers have a busy beginning to March this week, with a community service event in Amerson River Park and yoga under the full moon on Coleman Hill to start it all. The Streets for All Festival kicks off on Thursday with a fashion-centric community bike ride in Downtown Macon. The following are just a few of the unique, interesting, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, March 2nd

  >> Spring Break for Service - Enlarging the Tree Rings at Amerson River Park (2-5 p.m.)

Start the week with some community service with Fringed Campion Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society in beautiful Amerson River Park on Monday. Attendees must be at least 12 years old and dress appropriately for the weather and the outdoor activity. If you attend, make sure to bring water and any tools that might come in handy that you have. Participants must be 12 years of age or older; those under 16 years of age must have an adult present, and all participants must sign the GNPS waiver of liability before participating. This community event is free to attend.

  >> YOGA: Full Moon Yoga and Fire Ceremony on Coleman Hill (6-7:15 p.m.)

Amber Pierce of Wild Heart Yoga and Wellness Hug will lead a unique full moon yoga class and fire ceremony on Monday evening. Mats will be available, as well as a chair for chair yoga. This event includes a chalk art activity before the class stars, journaling, an all-levels yoga class, and a fire ceremony to release anxieties and fears. This free/donation-based class acts as a fundraiser for Downtown Macon’s Wellness Hug.

TUESDAY, March 3rd

  >> Lunar Eclipse Viewing at the Museum of Arts and Sciences’ Museum of Arts and Sciences (5 a.m.)

View the full moon lunar eclipse at the Museum of Arts and Sciences’ Mark Smith Planetarium early Tuesday morning. Middle Georgia skywatchers can view the last total lunar eclipse until 2029 on the planetarium's telescopes or a livestream that will be shown on the planetarium’s rounded ceiling. This Lunar Eclipse Viewing is free and open to the public.

  >> Anti Banned Book Club Reads “Fahrenheit 451” at Bear’s Books (6:30 p.m.)

Downtown Macon’s Bear’s Books will hold another Anti Banned Book Club on Tuesday, continuing with Ray Bradbury’s "Fahrenheit 451.” This literary event will include a facilitated discussion of the book led by Josie and light refreshments. The cost to attend the Anti Banned Book Club is $10 and includes guided discussion and light refreshments.

WEDNESDAY, March 4th

  >> BrainBlast Bingo at Wild Wing Cafe (7 p.m.)

BrainBlast Trivia presents bingo night every Wednesday at Wild Wing Cafe. BrainBlast Trivia provides trivia nights and entertainment activities in 8 states. This family-friendly event is free and includes prizes for bingo winners.

THURSDAY, March 5th

  >> ROAD TRIP - SHOPPING: Kids Consignment Sale at Georgia International Horse Park (3/5-3/8) (10 a.m.-8 p.m.)

Shoppers can buy baby, kids, teens, and maternity clothing, as well as shoes and accessories, baby equipment, toys, sporting goods, youth furniture and decor, and more at this event that takes place from Wednesday through Sunday this week at the Georgia International Horse Park, which offers 30,000 square feet to search for bargains from hundreds of local parents. The sale will take place during the same hours on Thursday and Friday, with Saturday’s hours 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. ( although closed from 5 to 6:30 p.m.), and Sunday’s hours 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 50% off sale starting on Saturday evening. Attendees should enter Gate C and follow the posted signs to the circular drive and the multi-purpose building for this free-to-attend shopping event.

  >> Streets for All Fest 2026 (3/5-3/7) (6 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon’s Streets for All Fest kicks off on Thursday with the “Biking, But Make it Fashion” Ride and Bike Walk. This event from Bike Walk Macon, Macon Pride, and Rose Room combines fashion with bike riding, which turns Downtown Macon’s streets into a runway. During the weekend-long Streets for All Fest, participants can take part in bike rides, walks, and community gatherings that help them uniquely appreciate Macon. A bike raffle is also a part of the Streets for All Fest, with one lucky winner receiving a new Trek FX Stepover Gen 4 bicycle with custom Thomson upgrades, according to Bike Walk Macon.   >> Night with the Arts at the Museum of Arts and Sciences (7-9 p.m.)

The Museum of Arts and Sciences will present its annual Night With the Arts this Thursday, celebrating the museum’s 70th anniversary. Attendees will enjoy a bar and hors d’oeuvres while helping support the museum’s mission of educating Middle Georgians. Tickets to Night with the Arts cost $74.72 online.

  >> Pop Culture Panic - a Nerd Culture and Movie Trivia Night - at Reverb Room (7 p.m.)

Pop Culture Panic will include teams of 5 facing off to see who knows the most about trivial matters. Warner Robins’ Reverb Room hosts Pop Culture Panic, an all-ages trivia event presented in PowerPoint presentation style, every First and Third Thursday. Prizes for winners include show tickets, merchandise, and a Trivia Champion of the Month award to be displayed on the Reverb Room’s wall. Participants are not allowed to use phones during Pop Culture Panic to keep things fair. Entry to Pop Culture Panic cost $5 at the door.

NOTABLE EVENTS THIS WEEKEND:

FRIDAY, March 6th: March First Friday in Downtown Macon. Macon’s March First Friday celebrations include the Fair Food Frenzy, Art After Dark from Fall Line Brewing Co., art crawls, live music outside, and more.

- 5 p.m.: Cedric Smith’s Layers of Becoming at Wesleyan College Leadership Lab. Smith is a talented painter and entrepreneur (co-owner of Macon’s Rabbit Hole) who will exhibit his artwork at this free event on Friday.


SATURDAY, March 7th, 7 - 11 p.m.: Fall Line Brewing’s Art After Dark. An art unique festival at night with live glass blowing, a live DJ, glow-in-the-dark artists and vendors, fire performers, the Glow Roll with Bike Tech Macon, and more. Art After Dark is free to attend.

- 12 p.m.: Perry’s International Festival. This family-friendly festival features dancing, food, and vendors selling a wide variety of items like clothing, food, and gifts. Perry’s International Festival is free and open to the public.
