This week in Middle Georgia, families can take part in a Storybook Walk through Historic Downtown Perry, several new businesses will celebrate grand openings with ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and much more. There will also be events for music lovers, those who want to improve their communication with those from other generations, an art exhibit opening, and even an evening of comedy for mature folks. The following are just a few of the things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.

>> Storybook Crawl in Historic Downtown Perry (3/30-4/3)
Historic Downtown Perry invites families to do something different this spring break with a Storybook Crawl. Participating businesses will have pages from children’s books posted in their windows so that visitors can read them while strolling through and visiting restaurants and retailers located downtown. The Storybook Crawl is free and open to the public.

TUESDAY, March 31st
>> SHOPPING/PLANTS: Baldwin High Plant Sale in Milledgeville (3/30-4/3) (2:30-5:30 p.m.)
Baldwin High School Agriculture and FFA will be holding the annual Baldwin High Plant Sale from Tuesday through Friday (with Monday reserved for Baldwin County School staff). Shoppers will find flowers, vegetables, and ornamental plants for sale. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Baldwin High School students and the school’s greenhouse programs. The Baldwin High Plant Sale is open to the public.

>> Ribbon Cutting at Sheridan Construction in Macon (3:30-5 p.m.)
The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and Sheridan Construction will be celebrating the office expansion of the family-owned construction business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Sheridan Construction has been open for almost 80 years, providing general contracting and construction services in Georgia. This event is free and open to the public.

>> The Greater Butts County Lions Club presents Easter Basket Bingo at The Rivers Ranch in Jackson (5:30 p.m.)
The Greater Butts County Lions Club will host an evening of Easter Basket Bingo at The Rivers Ranch this Tuesday. The Rivers Ranch is a “modern rustic special events venue located on a cattle farm.” Easter Basket Bingo includes dinner, door prizes, and 5 games of bingo, and is kid-friendly. All proceeds will help benefit The Greater Butts County Lions Club. Doors open at 5:30, dinner starts at 6 p.m., and the games begin at 6:30 p.m. The Greater Butts County Lions Club’s Easter Basket Bingo costs $25 per adult and $15 per child.

>> MUSIC: Mercer Harp Ensemble presents “Facets” at Fickling Hall in Macon (7:30 p.m.)
Mercer University’s Mercer Harp Ensemble will present “Facets” this Tuesday in the historic McCorkle Music Building’s Fickling Hall. Attendees will hear harpists as they demonstrate the “variety of techniques, genres, and styles that make the harp such a unique instrument.” Mercer Harp Ensemble’s “Facets” is free and open to the public.

>> Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Carr & Co in Gray (11:30 a.m.)
Carr & Co Insurance Partners, along with the Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce, will celebrate the Grand Opening of the new location of the insurance business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Wednesday. This celebratory event is free and open to the public.

>> Communication Across Generations Panel Discussion at Georgia College & State University’s Arts & Sciences Building in Milledgeville (5-6 p.m.)
The Communication Across Generations Panel Discussion will include speakers from 4 different generations discussing “learning how to better communicate across generations.” Bruce Hood will represent the Boomers, Damita Jones will represent Gen X, Gil Pound will represent the Millennials, and Leah Frazier will represent Gen Z. >> COMEDY: Macon U Laugh Comedy Night at the Macon Arts Center (9-11:30 p.m.)
Henry Welch will host OG Ball’s Macon U Laugh Comedy Night on Thursday evening at the Macon Arts Center. This event will include performances from DJ George and Randi Sky, and music from DJ Cheez. Tickets to this 21 and up event start at $20 online at this link.

>> ART: “reSISTERS” Opening Reception at the Macon Arts Alliance (4 p.m.)
Macon Arts Alliance will hold the opening reception for “reSISTERS,” featuring artwork from She Keene, this Thursday. Keene is a mixed media artist who “creates abstract and figurative mixed media pieces that collage historic photographs of early suffragists.” This event is free to attend.

> Friday, April 3rd @ 12-11:45 p.m.: Downtown Macon’s April First Friday. Various businesses and restaurants will offer special deals and events, art lovers will partake in an Art Crawl to various art galleries around Downtown Macon, while live music from Trombone Love will be in the air near J. Reid’s Tavern, and The Ritmo Soul Band will be performing at The Bohemian Den from 6 to 8 p.m.
> Saturday, April 4th @ 9 p.m.: The Raspy Lemons with Jesse Mower at Grant’s Lounge. The talented band The Raspy Lemons will perform with special guest Jesse Mower in historic Grant’s Lounge on Friday night. Tickets cost $10 at the door.
