Adventurers will have a prime choice of exciting events this weekend, including the Perry Dogwood Festival, the Magnolia Street Soap Box Derby, and the Otis Redding Center for the Arts' First anniversary celebration, and many more. The following are just a few of the fun, unique, and often free things to do this weekend in the heart of Georgia.


FRIDAY, April 10th

  >> Georgia Academy for the Blind Plant Sale (4/8-4/10) (8 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Gardeners and other green-thumbed people will be visiting the Georgia Academy for the Blind’s Plant Sale this week. Shoppers can buy everything from flowers to vegetables at this sale. Guests are asked to bring cash or a check for payment, use Gate 1 off of Ridge Avenue, and park in the grass. The Georgia Academy for the Blind’s Plant Sale is free to attend.

  >> JOBS: Summer’s Landing Hiring Day in Warner Robins (9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Attention Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Medication Aids, and Caregivers looking for a job: Summer’s Landing, a senior living community in Warner Robins, is holding a job fair on Friday. Experience is preferred. This job fair event is free to attend.

  >> Fired Works 2026 in the CCP’s Round House in Macon (4/10-4/18) (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Fired Works is a ceramic festival from the Macon Arts Alliance (MAA) in which talented ceramic artists from across Georgia display and sell their artistic and functional works. The 9-day festival runs daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MAA’s Fired Works 2026 is open to the public.

  >> ART: Nicole Isaac Photography Exhibit and Reception at Allied Arts in Milledgeville (5-7 p.m.)

An exhibit featuring the photographs of Middle Georgia’s Nicole Isaac will open with a reception this Friday at Allied Arts in Milledgeville. Isaac’s work, presented in more than 30 images, seeks to “capture the quiet drama of nature, architecture, and everyday life.” Guests will be served light refreshments at the reception, which is free and open to the public.

  >> THEATER: Mary Poppins by the Butts Acting Guild in Jackson (7 p.m.)

The Butts Acting Guild will present 4 showings of Mary Poppins from Friday through Sunday this weekend. Mary Poppins is a musical written by brothers Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman. Fans of the hit 1964 Disney film of the same name will be familiar with the story of the new nanny, Jane and Michael, and the adventures they go on together. General admission to Butts Acting Guild’s presentations of Mary Poppins is $21.65, with seniors and children under 12 paying $18.54, online at this link.

  >> MUSIC: Phantom Dan & blue. at The Hummingbird in Macon (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

Phantom Dan and blue. will be performing in Downtown Macon at The Hummingbird this Friday. Phantom Dan is a post-punk band based in Athens, while blue. is a Middle Georgia alt-punk band. Both bands are expected to perform a mix or covers and originals. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover for this show.

SATURDAY, April 11th

  >> The Great Spring Paw-ty Spring Fling Adoption Event in Jackson (11 a.m.-3 p.m.)

Butts County Animal Services is presenting The Great Spring Paw-ty on Saturday. Visitors can adopt a new furry family member. Microchips and Rabies vaccines will cost $10 (cash) for Butts County residents. This pet adoption event is free to attend.

   >> Azalea Festival and Native Plant Sale at the Boy Scout Road Nursery in Byron (8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

The Fringed Campion Chapter of the GNPS will present its annual Azalea Festival and Native Plant Sale this Saturday at the Boy Scout Road Nursery. This nonprofit organization offers Native Plant Hikes, maintains a beautiful garden at Amerson River Park, hosts special events, and more. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

  >> Card Show and Pokémon Event at Anderson Conference Center in Macon (9 a.m.-3 p.m.)

Warner Robin’s Middle Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles will be holding a Card Show and Pokémon Event this Saturday. Sports card and collector dealers will be on hand with Topps cards and products, graded cards, rookie cards, treasure boxes, custom cards, video games, silver coins, and more. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

  >> Georgia’s Roosevelt Impact Structure at High Falls State Park in Jackson (10 a.m.)

Planetary geologist and visiting research scientist with the University of Georgia, R. Scott Harris, will speak about the Roosevelt Impact Structure at High Falls State Park this Saturday morning. The Roosevelt Impact Structure is considered one of the “largest asteroid collision sites” in the U.S. A park pass is required to park in High Falls State Park, but this event is free to attend.

  >> The Perry Dogwood Festival and Concert Series (4/11-4/12)

The annual Perry Dogwood Festival includes the Dogwood Dash 5K, live music, a Kids Zone, food trucks, vendors selling art and other items, and more. Visitors to Historic Downtown Perry will gather on the City Hall Lawn for the festival’s Concert Series. The Perry Dogwood Festival is free and open to the public.

  >> ORCA’s First Anniversary Celebration at the Otis Redding Center for the Arts in Macon (11 a.m.-4 p.m.)

The Otis Redding Center for the Arts (ORCA) will celebrate its first anniversary since opening in Downtown Macon this Saturday with live music, public art, food, games, prizes, and tours of the impressive facilities. ORCA is a multipurpose space for students from 5 to 18 to learn all about music and the music industry. ORCA’s First Anniversary Celebration is family-friendly, free, and open to the public.

  >> 16th Annual Magnolia Soap Box Derby and the Magnolia Street Porch Fest on Magnolia Street in Macon (11 a.m.-4 p.m.; 5-11 p.m.)

One of the more unique events that takes place in Macon every year is the Magnolia Soap Box Derby, where brave racers speed down the steep Magnolia Street in makeshift vehicles built by teams of students and local organizations, dramatically slamming into hay bales to stop. This family-friendly event features a half-time show, food trucks and drink vendors, a Kids Big Wheel Race (1:30 p.m.), a Professional Division Race (2:45 p.m.), and a Shadetree Division Race (3:15 p.m.) (all times approximate). After the races have all been finished and the champions crowned, the Magnolia Street Porch Fest will take place on two porches in the neighborhood, with music from local musicians. Attendees at both events are encouraged to bring chairs.

  >> SHOPPING: Middle Georgia Oddities Market at Reverb Room in Warner Robins (12-6 p.m.)

Shoppers can find odd, strange, and unusual wares at Middle Georgia Oddities Market on Saturday. Vendors will sell everything, including bizarre curiosities and handmade art. Those who stick around after the market can enjoy an all-ages Goth Night, which will include DJ sets from Dead Parrot and Witchbreaker for $15. A $3 entry fee or pet food donation at the door for the Middle Georgia Oddities Market will go toward the Furever After Rescue: kids under 12 get in free.

  >> MUSIC: Ascending Aries Rave hosted by Lunar Lighthouse at T and Jay’s Bar in Macon (9 p.m.)

Lunar Lighthouse and Jak the Act will perform live sets at Court of Miracle’s Ascending Aries Rave this Saturday evening. There will be fire spinning, open decks, and surprise performances during this unique event celebrating those born under the sign of Aries. There is no cover for this music-filled event.

SUNDAY, April 12th

  >> Macon Periods Easier’s Afternoon Delights Burlesque Show at The Society Garden (12 p.m.)

Burlesque troupe Feral Fever will perform during Macon Periods Easier’s Afternoon Delights Burlesque Show on Sunday. This event is for audiences 18 and older and will include a 2-hour performance, raffle, a cash bar, and more. General admission tickets to the Afternoon Delights Burlesque Show cost $20, which includes 5 raffle tickets.

  >> SHOPPING: Fall Line’s Spring Market at Fall Line Brewing Co. in Macon (1 p.m.)

Fall Line Brewing Co.’s Fall Line Station will be filled with local vendors selling baked goods, gifts, and handmade items this Sunday. Shoppers can enter a gift basket raffle by completing it when visiting different vendors. Fall Line’s Spring Market is free to attend.

>> HOCKEY: Macon Mayhem vs. Peoria Rivermen Watch Party at Taco Mac in Macon (5 p.m.)

Macon Mayhem fans will unite over food and beverages at Taco Macon this Sunday to watch as the Mayhem face off against the Peoria Rivermen for Game 3 of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Playoffs Quarterfinal (there will also be a watch party at Taco Mac for Game 2 on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.). This event is free to attend.

  >> MUSIC: Bragg Jam Second Sunday Concert - The Via Vicary Band on Coleman Hill in Macon (6-8 p.m.)

Families and friends will gather on Downtown Macon’s Coleman Hill on Sunday evening for a free concert from the Via Vicary Band. This band is a “funk-forward pop/rock group” based out of Birmingham, Alabama’s Samford University. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, picnic blankets, and refreshments, and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome, too. All of the concerts in Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday Concert Series are free and open to the public.

NOTABLE EVENTS NEXT WEEK:

  - Monday, April 13th > 7:30 p.m.: Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra at The Piedmont Grand Opera House: Guest conductor Yaniv Segal will lead the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra as they perform Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. There will also be a special performance from Mercer University’s Concert Competition winner. Tickets cost $30+.


 - Tuesday, April 14th > 6-8 p.m.: Storytellers Macon presents This Land Is Your Land at Grant’s Lounge: Another night of intriguing stories will be told from the historic Grant’s Lounge stage on Tuesday. The featured storyteller for the evening will be Latracia Tolbert Brite. This open-mic storytelling event is free to the public.

 - Saturday, April 18th > 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Dickey Farms 2026 Strawberry Festival in Musella: This family-friendly event will include strawberry picking, fresh produce, food trucks, live music, a kids zone, and more.
