“Join us on January 18, 2025, for the 29th Annual Run for Aviation, where every step helps preserve aviation history and inspire future innovation,” said Dan Rhoades, President/CEO of the Museum of Aviation Foundation. He continued, “Preserving history is vital as it honors the courage and ingenuity that have shaped our world, while inspiring future generations to push the boundaries of what’s possible. By participating, you directly support the Museum of Aviation’s mission to restore and share stories like that of the iconic C-47 'Skytrain,' ensuring they ignite curiosity and innovation for years to come—making your steps part of something truly meaningful! We’d also like to thank our Presenting Sponsor, Atrium Health, for their generous support of our event!”
We’re thrilled to feature the historic C-47 “Skytrain” on this year’s finisher medal for half marathon and marathon runners as a tribute to its incredible legacy and connection to our mission. The C-47, recently transported from Alaska to Robins Air Force Base, played a critical role in World War II, participating in key missions such as the D-Day invasion and the resupply of Allied forces in Bastogne. Known for its strength and reliability, the C-47 embodies the spirit of resilience and commitment that we celebrate at the Museum of Aviation.
By earning this medal, you carry forward the legacy of the C-47 and honor the courage and
dedication of those who served. Each step you take supports the Museum’s efforts to restore and
preserve this remarkable aircraft, allowing us to inspire future generations with its story. Join us
in celebrating history, endurance, and the mission to keep aviation heritage alive.
