PRESS RELEASE: Subaru of Macon Donates $5,000 and School Supplies to Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School
Teachers surprised with funding for 210+ students as part of Subaru Loves Learning initiative
MACON, GA (September 4, 2025) – Subaru of Macon made a lasting impact at Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School today, surprising teachers with a $5,000 donation and essential school supplies to support their classrooms. The donation, part of the Subaru Loves Learning®initiative in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org®, will directly benefit 10 classrooms and more than 210 students at the high-need* school.
The donation comes at a critical time when educators nationwide are facing financial pressure. According to AdoptAClassroom.org, 92% of teachers serve students whose families cannot afford basic school supplies, forcing educators to spend an average of $895 of their own money annually on classroom materials — a 50% increase since 2015.
“Teachers give so much of themselves to their students, often without the recognition or resources they deserve,” said Chris Duncan, Executive General Manager/COO at Subaru of Macon. “Through Subaru Loves Learning, we’re proud to support the educators who help shape our community — and be part of something that makes a real difference right here in Macon.”
This event marks the fourth year Subaru of Macon as partnered with Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School to “adopt” classrooms at the school.
“This generous donation from Subaru of Macon will go a long way in helping our teachers create a well-equipped learning environment,” said Donna Cline, principal at Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School. “Having access to the right supplies makes a real difference — not just for our students’ success, but for their confidence. We’re grateful for our longstanding partnership with Subaru of Macon and to be part of the Subaru Loves Learning initiative.”
Subaru of Macon’s community commitment extends beyond the classroom, partnering with local organizations such as Daybreak, Brookdale Resource Center, Navicent Health, All About Animals, and many more.
Today’s donation is part of Subaru Loves Learning, a nationwide effort to provide teachers with the resources they need to set their students up for success. Through its five-year partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru has become the organization's largest corporate sponsor, supporting more than 950,000 students at high-need schools nationwide by the end of 2025.
