This is the first year where Juneteenth will be celebrated as a national holiday

The 30th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival will take place in Tattnall Square Park. This free festival takes place from Saturday, June 18th (2 - 9:30 p.m.) through Sunday, June 19th (12 - 9:30 p.m.).

On Saturday, June 18th there will be a Treasures of Kuumba Artists Exhibit, Vendors of culture, food, and information, historical displays, Magnificent Sisters of Dance Showcase and Saturday headliner The Butcher Brown Band.

On Sunday, June 19th there will be a Percussion Master’s Workshop featuring Lil’ John Roberts and Mino Cinelu at 12 p.m. with multiple education and musical events with the Sunday headliner Lil John Roberts Fusion Ensemble featuring Mino Cinelu (saluting Music of Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Weather Report and other).

Project BAAD (which stands for “Bringing African Americans Downtown”) is helping to bring the Juneteenth Festival back to Macon this year.

Donations will be accepted to help continue to bring events like these to Macon.
