This week will start with two free classical music performances at the Townsend School of Music's Fickling Hall. On Wednesday, things start to get spooky with the Haunted Mansion Bar Crawl, and there will be a variety of Halloween-themed events to haunt on Thursday, including several in Downtown Macon. Then the weekend arrives, and with it a new month to enjoy with events like November First Friday, Macon's Big Bike Ride, and much, much more. The following are just a few of the unique and fun adventures you can find this week in the heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, October 28th

Conducting Recital of Galen Peters at Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)

On Monday, Galen Peters will conduct students and faculty from the Townsend School of Music as they perform powerful classical music, including The Duke of Marlborough Fanfare by Percy Aldridge Grainger and Mozart’s Serenade in C Minor.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29th

The Music of Gregory Hamilton, featuring Townsend School of Music Students at Fickling Hall (7:30 p.m.)

On Tuesday, there will be another free concert at Fickling Hall. Dr. Gregory Hamilton and Townsend School of Music students Manou Magdalena Chakravorty (cello), Robert Mulcrone (violin), Lucas Meinberg (flute), and Govanny Brown (viola) will perform the music of Dr. Hamilton on Tuesday. Dr. Hamilton is a composer, recitalist on the organ, lute, and harpsichord, and the director of music at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Macon, according to Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music.

WEDNESDAY, October 30th

Haunted Mansion Bar Crawl at Fall Line Brewing Co. (6 p.m.)

There will be a Halloween-themed bar crawl on Wednesday. This event for adults who still want to take part in spooky season will include an adventure that will lead participants to several downtown drinking establishments as they try to defeat the “spirits of the Haunted Mansion.” The Haunted Mansion Bar Crawl will begin at Fall Line Brewing Co. at 6 p.m. and end at JBA. Big Little Brawlers return to The Society Garden (8-10 p.m.)

Describing themselves as the original "micro" professional wrestling organization, the Big Little Brawlers will bring another of their entertaining wrestling events to The Society Garden on Wednesday. THURSDAY, October 31st

Trick or Treat in Downtown Macon (4-7 p.m.)

Thursday night is Halloween and there will be several events around Middle Georgia celebrating the occasion. Multiple businesses in Downtown Macon will host Trick or Treaters as they go about their spooky search for sweet candy and treats. NewTown Macon will also be teaming up with Middle Georgia Regional Library for “Book-or-Treat” as part of the celebration of the 100th birthday of Washington Memorial Library. Just Tap’d will be handing out candy (and also be selling beer and candy pairing flights for the adults). Ghouls at Hotel Forty Five will be passing out candy to trick-or-treaters and hosting a Halloween-themed event at the Reckon Coffee & Wine Bar. The hotel will also be presenting “Sip & Scare at Hightales” where attendees will watch the original “Halloween” on the rooftop bar from 8 to 11 p.m. At 9 p.m., Fresh Produce Records will be hosting a “Spooktacular Listening Party,” which will include a costume competition and drink specials for the 18 and older crowd.

Boo Bash: Kids Halloween Festival at Fall Line Brewing Co. (4 p.m.)

While in Downtown Macon on Thursday, make sure to stop by Fall Line Brewing Co. for the Boo Bash. This family-friendly Halloween festival will include child-friendly carnival games, a bounce house, candy, and more.

Trunk or Treat at Gray-8-Skate Family Entertainment Center in Gray (5-8 p.m.)

Gray’s Gray-8-Skate, which is located only a few minutes from Downtown Macon, will be hosting a Halloween trunk or treat at the rink on Thursday night as well. This free event will include well-beloved characters like Mario, Spongebob, and Bob the Minion.

Killer Karaoke and Halloween Costume Contest at The Hummingbird (10 p.m.-1:30 a.m.)

The later it gets on Thursday night, the spookier things are likely to seem. Starting at 10 p.m., The Hummingbird will host Killer Karaoke and a Halloween Costume Contest presented by Talk Nerdy To Me. Beetlejuice and Lydia will be hosting this creepy event.

FRIDAY, November 1st

Grand Opening of Brass Rack (11 a.m.)

Brass Rack is a new pool room and restaurant that will be opening its doors to the public for the first time this Friday. This family-friendly pool hall will also include a full bar and a restaurant serving items like hamburgers and wings.

November First Friday in Downtown Macon (5-11:45 p.m.)

First Friday returns to Downtown Macon on November First with the monthly art crawl, live music at various venues and outdoor locations, and more. Bear’s Brooks will be celebrating its first anniversary this First Friday with 10% off and giveaways. Various businesses around Downtown Macon will also be celebrating with special events, including Longleaf Distillery, which is inviting Mercer Alumni for a Homecoming Welcome Party (6-8 p.m.), and Serenity Entertainment Complex, which will be hosting an event for refined adults of Middle Georgia at its Grown Folks Friday. For something a little different, check out Emo Night Karaoke at The Hummingbird starting at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $15 on eventbrite.com.

NewTown Macon and Macon-Bibb County Recreation will be screening the Disney film “Coco” in the Fall Line parking lot (605 2nd Street Lane) starting at 7:45 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, and attendees are invited to bring something comfortable to sit on for this family-friendly film.

The Art Crawl on November First Friday will include:

  • The opening of an exhibit at Gallery West from 5 to 8 p.m. will showcase the photography of Jeff Fasano. Fasano is known for his photographs of actors and musicians.
  • Favorite Things at The 567 Center for Renewal will open the 567's November and December exhibit of holiday ornaments and different kinds of artwork from local artists that cost $100 and less starting on First Friday. There will be an opening reception with drinks and light refreshments from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • NewTown Macon’s Bright City: Cultural Confluence will feature an outdoor exhibition of photographs on Second Street Lane from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Cultural Confluence, which is curated by Yatika Fields, will include pieces from seven photographers, including Hotvlkuce (Hadulgagee) Harjo, Jessi Sands, April Holder, Carrie Lind, Randy Kemp, George Alexander, and Britt Postoak. Macon’s Big Bike Ride 2024 (6:45-9:45 p.m.)

Bike Walk Macon will present Macon’s Big Bike Ride 2024 on Friday night in Downtown Macon. This event and fundraiser will include a seven-mile-long bike ride through Downtown Macon as well as some of the neighborhoods that surround it. Macon’s Big Bike Ride starts with a kick off party and registration from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Cherry Street Plaza. Bike Walk Macon advocates for “friendlier, safer, and healthier streets in Macon-Bibb County,” and this event will help them raise money to support their important mission. General admission tickets for this family-friendly event start at $10 (and kids under 10 ride for free). Tickets can be purchased from Bike Walk Macon’s website.

Fall Film Series Screening of “Jurassic Park” in Perry (7:45-11:45 p.m.)

The City of Perry will host a night of movie watching in Downtown Perry Friday night with a screening of the classic “Jurassic Park.” This free, family-friendly (though the film is PG-13) event will also include activities and food trucks. Guests are invited to bring coolers and lawn chairs or blankets to get comfortable on.

Little Feat and The Hot Tomato Horns with Special Guests Duane Betts and Palmetto Hotel at Macon City Auditorium (8 p.m.)

On Friday, Downtown Macon will be rocking with the band Little Feat, which was formed in 1969, and The Hot Tomato Horns. Little Feat is known for its energetic performance of several kinds of rock and roll music, including roots, boogie, country, southern, and swamp rock. Duane Betts & Palmetto Hotel will be the special guests at this show as part of Little Feat’s Can’t Be Satisfied Tour. Disney on Ice presents “Into the Magic” at the Macon Coliseum (8:45 p.m.)

Disney on Ice will present the stories of favorite Disney characters like Belle and the Beast, Moana, and Miguel (from the movie “Coco”) as they perform while skating across the ice in the Macon Coliseum. Tickets start at $15 on ticketmaster.com. If you aren’t able to make the show on Friday, there will also be shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Party Nights at The Society Garden (8-10 p.m.)

SATURDAY, November 2nd

Dia De Muertos Cultural Fest 2024 in Warner Robins (11 a.m.-8 p.m.)

The Dia De Muertos Cultural Fest returns to Warner Robins on Saturday and Sunday of this week. This festival will include dancing, live music, tasty foods, face painting, craft vendors, and more. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. On Sunday, the festival will run from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

The Country and Western Festival at The Society Garden (12-10 p.m.)

Jerry Seinfeld at the Macon City Auditorium (8 p.m.)

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will perform in Macon on Saturday evening. The famous comedian, who came to fame primarily from the long-running NBC television show about nothing, “Seinfeld,” will be delivering his jokes from the historic Macon City Auditorium stage. SUNDAY, November 3rd

9th Annual Food Truck Fest at Martha Bowman Church (12-5 p.m.)

Martha Bowman Church will be presenting its 9th Annual Food Truck Fest this Sunday. In addition to the food trucks, there will also be live music, activities for kids, games, crafts, and inflatables, according to the church.
