Spotlight on Live Music in Macon and Middle Georgia

There will be a lot of live music being played in the heart of Georgia during the next few days, starting on Thursday with performances from Parker Millsap and T. Hardy Morris and continuing through the weekend with Travis Tritt and Swamp Dogg playing on Friday, and many more talented musicians playing at Middle Georgia venues on Saturday and Sunday. The following are just a few of the performances taking place.


THURSDAY, JULY 20

PARKER MILLSAP AT CAPRICORN SOUND STUDIOS (7:30 P.M.)

Parker Millsap is a singer and songwriter as well as a multi-instrumentalist whose music is a mixture of “blues, country, rock, Americana, and folk music”. Millsap is well-known for his energetic live performances and vivid storytelling. This concert is presented by 100.9 The Creek and Visit Macon and proceeds will benefit the Georgia Music Foundation. There will be a reception with light hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. before the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to see Parker Millsap might be almost impossible to find as there are currently none shown as available on Seetickets.us.

MATT PIPPIN AT WILD WING CAFE IN MACON (8:30 P.M.)

Matt Pippin is a country music artist from Macon. Pippin will be performing at the Wild Wing Cafe on Riverside Drive, which does not have a cover charge.

T. HARDY MORRIS WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE HOWDIES AND THE PINK STONES AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

T. Hardy Morris (formerly of the alternative rock band Dead Confederate will be performing at Grant’s Lounge on Thursday night. Morris’ newest album was released in 2021 and is titled “The Digital Age of Rome”. Morris will be joined on the historic Grant’s Lounge stage by two bands: The Howdies and The Pink Stones. The Howdies describe their music as honky tonk and hillbilly music and The Pink Stones describe theirs as cosmic country blended with rock and roll music. T. Hardy Morris, The Howdies, and The Pink Stones are all based in Athens, Georgia and with Normaltown Records.


FRIDAY, JULY 14

SALSA NIGHT WITH DJ LAYLO LOPEZ AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (5 P.M. - 12 A.M.)

Join DJ Laylor Lopez at The Society Garden as part of the venue’s Taco & Tequila Fest. Tickets to each day of the three day Taco & Tequila Fest cost $10.

GROUND HUM AT FISH N’ PIG (7 P.M.)

Ground Hum is a band from Macon that plays 90’s alternative rock hits. Fish N’ Pig does not have a cover charge.

TRAVIS TRITT AT MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7:30 P.M.)

Travis Tritt (from Marietta) is a singer and songwriter that needs no introduction for many fans of country music in Middle Georgia. Tickets start at $36.50.

SWAMP DOGG AND SPECIAL GUEST TAMI NELSON AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

Swamp Dogg (a/k/a Jerry Williams) will perform at The Capitol Theatre on Friday night. His unique sound developed after performing as Little Jerry in the 50s and 60s and combines psychedelic soul, rhythm and blues, country, and disco music. Tami Nelson is a country music singer from New Zealand. Tickets to see Swamp Dogg and Tami Nelson, brought to you by 100.9 The Creek, start at $25.

OPEN MIC NIGHT WITH DJ T LUV AT RIGBY’S ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX IN WARNER ROBINS (8 P.M.)

DJ T Luve hosts Open Mic Night at Rigby’s The Patio Bar every third Friday. This event is for attendees 18 years old and older.

THE GARRETT COLLINS PROJECT AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Garrett Collins is a young singer and guitarist whose music is a mix of blues and rock and roll. Collins will perform at Grant’s Lounge on Friday night accompanied by D. Steve (bass guitar/back up vocals), Daniel Harper (drums). Tickets to see The Garrett Collins Project cost $10.

HUNG JURY AT 20’S PUB (9 P.M.)

Hung Jury is a band that performs popular classic rock hits. 20’s Pub is a bar and grill located off of Riverside Drive and it does not have a cover charge.

CHANCE CARTER AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

Chance Carter is a country music artist whose popularity is rising and he is returning to perform at Billy's Clubhouse late Friday night. Billy’s Clubhouse does not have a cover charge.

ADAM AND THE TESTIFIERS AT JBA (10 P.M.)

Adam & the Testifiers is a funk band with a very busy touring schedule. The band is based out of Atlanta. JBA is keeping the opener for the Adam & the Testifiers show a mystery at the time of publication and there will be a $5 cover charge at the door for this show.



SATURDAY, JULY 22

DJ PICKLES AND TUMBAO LATIN FUSION BAND AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (3 - 7 P.M.)

The three day Taco & Tequila Fest continues at The Society Garden with music from DJ Pickles from 3 to 5 p.m. and then music from Tumbao Latin Fusion Band from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets to each day of the three day Taco & Tequila Fest cost $10.

ILL WIND BAND IN DOWNTOWN MILLEDGEVILLE (5 - 7 P.M.)

Ill Wind is a folk rock and psychedelic band from Baston who release three bands in the late 60s. The band will perform as part of the city’s Christmas in July event. Milledgeville Main Street is presenting this concert for free.

726 ACOUSTICS AT CASHMAN’S PUB (7 - 10 P.M.)

726 Acoustics is the country music band of Hunter Rowland and Branson Parish. They will be performing at Cashman’s Pub in Downtown Macon, which does not have a cover charge.

ROCKING SUMMER SERIES AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (8 P.M.)

Rocking Summer Series will feature rock and roll and art as well as drink special. Friends on the HILL serve drinks, food, and they also often host live music performances as well.

MAPLES CROWN AT SALTWATER FISHERY IN DUBLIN (8 - 11 P.M.)

Maples Crown will perform on the roof of the Saltwater Fishery in Dublin. Maples Crown is a five piece band that plays classic rock cover songs from four decades of music.

GRANDVILLE AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8:30 - 11:30 P.M.)

GrandVille is a rock band based out of Athens that is made up of lead singer and guitarist Jackson Tennyson, James Tennyson on lead and backup vocals as well as drums, Ashton Mann on bass and backup vocals, and Sam Yarborough on keyboard, organ, and backup vocals as well. GrandVille recently released a self-titled debut album in May of this year. Tickets to see GrandVille cost $15.

CERTAINLY SO AT GRANT'S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Certainly So is a Nashville based band that was started by two childhood friends, Tanner Gray and Colby Wilson. The two friends added a rhythme section and released their debut album "Future Self Only Dreams" in 2021. The sound of Certainly So is heavily influenced by The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, and others. Tickets to see Certainly So at Grant's Lounge cost $10.

GLENN LEWIS & THE BOYS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

Glen Lewis & the Boys will perform classic rock songs on the Billy’s Clubhouse stage, which does not have a cover charge.


SUNDAY, JULY 23

MARIACHI AND DJ LAYLO LOPEZ AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (2 - 7 p.m.)

The Taco & Tequila Fest continue on Sunday with a live performance from a mariachi (2 - 4 p.m.) and DJ Laylo Lopez playing salsa music (4 - 7 p.m.). Tickets to the Taco & Tequila Fest cost $10.

FLASH BACK AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 9 P.M.)

The band Flash Back will perform at Buffington’s this Sunday evening. Buffington’s does not have a cover charge.
