Live Entertainment Spotlight in Middle Georgia this Week

The third week of April will include lots of unique entertainment events, celebrations of Earth Day, festivals, and more. As usual, there will be lots of talented musicians performing on stages all across Middle Georgia including at the new Atrium Health Amphitheater. The following are just a few of the fun and entertaining things to do in the next few days in the heart of Georgia.


FRIDAY, APRIL 19

RHINESTONED! AT JBA (7 - 9 p.m.)

RhineSTONED! is an entertainment event from the “burlesque-intensive troupe” Feral Fever and is being presented as a part of the three-day long Puffapalooza. Puffapalooza will also include a concert crawl, educational workshops, and speakers, as well as a Late Night Glow Party with DJ B3, at JBA later on Friday evening. RhineSTONED! is for the 18 and older crowd and tickets will be available at the door, according to the organizers.

PARTS & LABOR AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (7 p.m.)

Parts & Labor, the “rock-soul-blues-jam” band from Macon that headlined last year’s Bragg Jam will be performing at The Society Garden on Friday night. There is usually a cover charge at the gate on nights when there is live music being performed at The Society Garden.

TAB BENOIT AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)

The Grammy-nominated guitarist, singer, and songwriter Tab Benoit will perform at The Capitol Theatre on Friday night. Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos, led by Anthony Rosano, another guitarist, singer, and songwriter, will open for Benoit with some bluesy rock music. The doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $27.50 online at this link or the Capitol Theatre’s box office.

EVAN CRENSHAW AT GRACIE’S IN WARNER ROBINS (8 p.m.)

Evan Crenshaw will be performing at Gracie’s: A Rooftop Bar on Friday night. This cocktail bar and music venue presents different artists performing and there is no cover charge.

WIM TAPLEY & THE CANNONS WITH CLOVER COUNTY AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Wim Tapley & The Cannons is a band based in Athens whose sound is a mix of Americana “with a dash of pop and neo-soul”. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $10 online at this link or at the door.

GIANT DENIRO AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m.)

Giant DeNiro is an indie and pop punk band hailing from Milledgeville. According to the band’s Facebook page, the members of Giant DeNiro are “three line cooks and a farmer”. Billy’s Clubhouse never has a cover charge.

COLE GOODWIN WITH BEN BATES AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m.)

Cole Goodwin and Ben Bates will be performing country music at The Hummingbird early in the morning at The Hummingbird. Goodwin is from Pooler, Georgia, and was voted Savannah’s Best Country Artist in 2023. Tickets cost $15 at the door.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20

ROAD TRIP: SWEETWATER 420 fest at PULLMAN YARDS IN ATLANTA (7 - 9 p.m.)

While no longer headlined by Beck, the two-day Sweetwater 420 Fest will still take place on Saturday and Sunday with performances from bands like Gov’t Mule, Grace Potter, and Big Gigantic. General admission tickets to the music festival were available for purchase with a $10 donation to the Waterkeeper Alliance but they are currently sold out. Kush VIP one-day tickets start at $97, which still includes a $10 donation to the water conservancy organization, and can be purchased online at this link.

ROAD TRIP: EARTH DAY FEST IN THE EAST ATLANTA VILLAGE FARMERS MARKET (12 - 5 p.m.)

This Earth Day celebration will include artists, makers, musicians, and more, with performances from Heath Rowland, Zygeek, and Side Talk, according to the organizers. There will also be a plant swap, a recycled craft station, a grilled cheese station, and yoga at 12 p.m. Earth Day Fest is free to attend.

JUBILEE 420 MUSIC AND ART FESTIVAL AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (2 - 11:50 p.m.)

The West Collective presents the Jubilee 420 Music and Art Festival this Saturday with education talks starting at 2 p.m. and music from Andrew Turner, Jackson Tanner Trio, Shy Company, The Woofs, Bernard.wav, Lunar Lighthouse, Gnarfield, and DJ Clark After Dark. Tickets to Jubilee 420 Music and Art Festival are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

OGREFEST IX AT BACK PORCH LOUNGE (5 p.m.)

Ogrefest IX is a two-day-long heavy metal and rock music festival that takes place on Saturday and Sunday and benefits a chosen individual with diabetes. The festival is presented in memory of Eric “Ogre” Johnson and includes a silent auction, art sale, vendors, and more. Ogrefest IX is for attendees 21 years and older and includes performances from more than a dozen bands including A Sunday Fire, Sugar Virus, Sister Sandoz, Bangarang Peter, Ginger Brown, Corporal Quigg, 1016, and Nola, Tonny Stewart’s Dyerwulf, Low Frequency Messiah, 2 Finger Jester, Megalaplat, Catch These Hands, Death at a Capulet, and Red Hot Empty.

BOOMBOX SPRING FEST AT THE ATRIUM HEALTH AMPHITHEATER (6:30 p.m.)

Pro Styles Entertainment is presenting the BoomBox Spring Fest this Saturday at the new Atrium Health Amphitheater. Money Bagg Yo, Glorilla (who got into some unexpected legal trouble in Gwinnett on Tuesday according to Rolling Stone), Boosie, Big Boogie, and Rob 49. Tickets to Boom Box Spring Fest start at $30 for general admission lawn seats on ticketmaster.com.

BRANDY CLARK AND SISTASTRINGS AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)

Grammy and CMA award-winning country music singer and songwriter Brandy Clark will perform at the Capitol Theatre with Sista Strings opening the show. SistaStrings is a band made up of sisters Chauntee and Monique Ross whose sound mixes rhythm and blues and gospel as well as classical music. Tickets start at $35 online at this link or at the door.

STAND UP COMEDY AT THE MACON ARTS CENTER (7 - 11:30 p.m.)

Comedians Paytoe Johnson, Dusty Deaton, Steady Eddie, Bigg Fatt, and Karma will perform at the Macon Arts Center. This is a 21 and older comedy event and tickets are non-refundable. Tickets cost $20 online at this link.

HOT BOX: A 420 DRAG SHOW AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL (9 - 12 a.m.)

The Tribe Macon will present a 420-themed drag show on Saturday night with special guests Jaybella Banks and Justina Hole. 

KANDY JANAI AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)

Hopella presents Kandy Janai, who is also known as the Southern Soul Diva, at Grant’s Lounge on Saturday night. Afterward, there will be a jam session from 10:30 p.m. until late. Tickets to see Kandy Janai in concert start at $15 online at this link or at the door.

LITTLE WING EXPERIENCE AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Little Wing Experience will bring their Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan-influenced style of music to Billy’s Clubhouse late Saturday night. There is no cover charge for this show.

420 CELEBRATION FEATURING BAS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

Middle Georgia psychedelic rock band BAS will perform at a 420 celebration at The Hummingbird late Saturday evening. The Hummingbird will charge $5 at the door.


SUNDAY, APRIL 21

ROAD TRIP: OLD FOURTH WARD SPRING ARTS FESTIVAL IN ATLANTA (11 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

The Atlanta Foundation for the Public Spaces is presenting another Old Fourth Ward Spring Festival on Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta. There will be artworks from over one hundred local and regional artists, a children’s play area, food and beverage concessions, and live acoustic music. The Old Fourth Ward Spring Arts Festival is free to attend.
