World Famous Musician Talks with Students of The Otis Redding Foundation's Otis Music Camp
Saul Hudson, known professionally as Slash and lead guitarist for the Guns N' Roses, is considered one of the greatest guitarists ever. Students at this year's Otis Music Camp were able to talk with the world-famous musician about the music industry and more over videoconferencing earlier today.
Otis Music Camp is a two-week-long music camp for students 12 to 18 years old. While at the Otis Redding Foundation's camp, the young musicians learn about navigating the music industry and about the music business. During the yearly camp, the campers also write original music and then record that music at the foundation's music studio and perform it at the grand finale performance.
Each year musicians and entertainment industry insiders speak with the campers, sometimes in person and sometimes over teleconference. Musical guests in the past have included Chuck Leavell from The Allman Brothers Band and the Rolling Stones.
Slash has continued to create acclaimed music since the peak of his popularity in the 80s and 90s. His sixth solo project, titled "Orgy of the Damned", is currently the number-one blues album in the U.S. and the U.K.
The Otis Music Camp's finale performance this year will take place at the Grand Opera House on Saturday, June 15th starting at 7 p.m. Entrance to the camper's performance of their original music is free but donations help the foundation support the annual music camp.
