This week will include many different options for those looking to do something fun and different, including an evening of true stories at Grant's Lounge on Tuesday, events for those who love to dance, and even a celebration for Leos and the people who love them. The following are just a few of the adventures to be had this week in the heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, August 11th

Game Night/Music Bingo at Friends on the HILL (8 p.m.-12:30 a.m.)

Patrons at Friends on the HILL will celebrate Game Night/Music Bingo this Monday. Music Bingo stars at 9 p.m. with Pickles hosting. The hungry will also be able to purchase food from Friends on the HILL until late into the evening. There is no cover charge for this event.

MUSIC: Thomas Guest at 20’s Pub (9:30-11:30 p.m.)

Thomas Guest is a country music artist based in Macon whose latest song “Mystery Girl” was just released. Guest will perform after trivia, which starts at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, August 12th

BOOKS: Cookbook Club - August Edition at Bear’s Books (6 p.m.)

Cookbook Club will return to Bear’s Books on Tuesday. Attendees can show their own cooking abilities with a dish made from the featured cookbook for the evening, which is “What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking” by Caroline Chambers. Storytellers Macon presents “Good Doers” at Grant’s Lounge (6:30-8:30 p.m.)

Storytellers Macon will present a special night of storytelling along with Macon Magazine at historic Grant's Lounge on Tuesday. The theme for the evening's stories is "Good Doers" and focuses on stories about the people who do good things without making it about them, "the ones who act with heart, lead with impact, and choose to make a difference every day.” Macon Magazine's Susannah Maddux will host and Richard Frazier (5 Under 40 2024) will be the featured storyteller for the evening's stories. Grant's Lounge's audience members will also have a chance to sign up and tell a true 5-minute story related to the theme for the evening as usual. This free event is recommended for mature audiences as the stories are not censored.

WEDNESDAY, August 13th

Painting Botanicals (4 Week Acrylic Painting Class) at Artspace Macon (6 p.m.)

Artspace Macon will be offering a 4-week acrylic painting class starting with a class on Wednesday. The class is led by the extra-talented Casie Trace with 2 optional weeks for additional studio time (for an extra fee). The class costs $135 for 4 Sessions, $40 to drop in and learn, and $60 to add on optional studio time on September 17th and 24th. THURSDAY, August 14th

Middle Georgia Regional Business After Hours at the Hatcher Conference Center (5:30 p.m.)

Running a business isn’t easy. It helps to have other business owners to commiserate with. Middle Georgia Regional Business After Hours is all about commiseration, building relationships, and networking. This networking event is free to attend.

Oconee Heights Mini Park Ribbon Cutting in Milledgeville (6 p.m.)

The Oconee Heights Mini Park was created from a special partnership between Baldwin County, Georgia College and State University, and and DPH Shine and it will have its official ribbon cutting ceremony this Thursday. Participants will play games, receive health education, refreshments, and more, according to the organizer. Attendees are asked to park at the nearby Wesley Chapel AME.

DANCE: Dinner/Shag Dance at Shagging on Sinclair (6:30 p.m.)

Every second Thursday of the month, Shagging on Sinclair invites dancers to visit El Tequila’s dance floor. There is no cover charge for this dancing event.

FRIDAY, August 8th

Vintage Market Days of Central Georgia presents “Consider the Wildflowers” at the Georgia National Fairgrounds (8/15-8/17) (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Interior designers, decorators, and dealers will be selling unique vintage and antique goods, handmade heirlooms, clothing, jewelry, plants, food, and more at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The market features more than 60,000 square feet of shopping space indoors. RESCHEDULED TO MARCH 27TH AND 28TH, 2026: MUSIC: Back Where I All Began 2 featuring Trouble No More at The Capitol Theatre (8/15-8/16) (5 p.m.)

Back Where I All Began will feature two Nights of the band Trouble No More at The Capitol Theatre. Trouble No More pays tribute with their performances to the iconic Allman Brothers Band. On Friday afternoon, there will be a bourbon tasting (sponsored by 3 Chord Bourbon) and book signing with New York Times bestselling author Alan Paul (“Brothers and Sisters”). On Saturday afternoon, a day party will be shaking at The Big House. Additionally, there will be late-night sets at Grant’s Lounge with JB & The Meat n’ 3s both nights of Back Where I All Began 2 as well. Twilight Bar Crawl in Downtown Macon (6 p.m.)

If you have strong feelings about characters like Jacob, Bella, and Edward, and you are 21 or older, the Twilight Bar Crawl might be perfect for you. After checking in at 6 p.m. at Fall Line Brewing, Twilight Bar crawlers will either choose Team Edward or Team Jacob, put on werewolf ears or vampire fangs (included with the price of tickets), take an official crawl map, and get a chance to try out exclusive Twilight-themed cocktails. SATURDAY, August 9th

Ocmulgee Audubon Society’s August Field Trip: Macon County Sod Farms (8 a.m.)

The Ocmulgee Audubon Society will be taking its August Field Trip this Saturday and visiting the Macon County Sod Farms as well as some other locations west of Perry. This beginner-friendly trip will have limited walking, and scopes will be used to help with sighting the many unique birds of the area. Attendees at this free event will meet at the Cracker Barrel parking lot and carpool from there.

Kid’s Block Party in Milledgeville (9 a.m.-12 p.m.)

The Georgia College Office of Community Engagement and Service will present a Kid’s Block Party this Saturday with “music, crafts, and surprises.” Attendees can expect a mascot meet-and-greet, games, giveaways, snacks, and more at this free family-friendly event.

2nd Annual Macon Boozy Brunch Crawl (12-5 p.m.)

The Macon Boozy Brunch Crawl is a unique take on the bar crawl because it adds brunch as a focus as well. Participants will get a chance to enjoy brunch bites, mimosas, brunch shots, bloody mary specials, DJs, and an official after party, according to the organizers. The businesses participating in the Macon Boozy Brunch Crawl are Cashman’s Pub (which is also the registration bar), Vibez, The Daisy Tequila Bar, Parish on Cherry, Niche 385, 570 Dueling Piano Bar, Jalapeños Cantina, Bearfoot Tavern, and Ocmulgee Brewpub. MUSIC: Parts & Labor at The Society Garden (7 p.m.)

Parts & Labor is a rock 'n' roll, soul, and blues band formed in 2019 and based out of Macon. The band even recorded its debut album at Macon’s Capricorn Records. There will likely be a cover charge at the gate for this show that starts about an hour before the music begins.

Parts & Labor played at the Classic City American Music Festival in 2021

MUSIC: Head Games - A Tribute to Foreigner at the Griffin Opera House (8 p.m.)

This unique event will include open decks (9-11 p.m.), live art, karaoke, body painting, fire performances, silent disco magic, and more. Lunar Lighthouse will host the Leaping Leo Rave. MUSIC: Saint Social at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

Saint Social will return to The Bird this Saturday. Saint Social is an indie rock band based on the Gulf Coast. The band will play songs from their debut album as well as popular covers, according to The Bird. There will be a $5 cover at the door for this show.

MUSIC: Filth with Massakrd and Tomb of Oedom at Friends on the HILL (7-11 p.m.)

Imperium Concerts and GMO Productions present a show for fans of heavy metal on Sunday. The performing bands include Filth, Massakrd, Tomb Of Oedom, and Crown Cursed. This show is for a 21-and-up audience. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online at this link.
