2025 has arrived and time is, as usual, slowing down for no one. This week there are lots of unique events scheduled to take place ranging from a workshop teaching stop-motion videography to homeschooled teens to a Sunday night jam session at historic Grant's Lounge. The following are just a few of the unique and interesting events taking place this week in the heart of Georgia.

MONDAY, January 6th

Golden Mondays at Hotel Forty Five (7 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Mondays aren't the best days for many people, and there are good reasons to do something fun on the first day of the work week to try to start it off on a better foot. Hotel Forty Five offers 10% off your entire purchase at Loom and Reckon Coffee & Wine Bar on Mondays for those 55 and older.

Teen Homeschool Series: Stop-Motion Video Workshop at Washington Memorial Library (10 a.m.)

Attendees will learn step-by-step how to make stop-motion videos at Middle Georgia Regional Library's latest workshop in the Teen Homeschool Series. This program series will meet on January 6th, February 3rd, and February 17th on the 2nd floor of the Washington Memorial Library.

TUESDAY, January 7th

Juniper Creek Natives Nursery Work Days in Bryon (1-4 p.m.)

The Fringed Campion Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society, Georgia Native Plant Society, and Juniper Creek Natives invite the public to help continue clearing space and building a new potting bench for the new partnership nursery, Juniper Creek Natives. Volunteers will be building with wood milled on site, as well as removing vines and shrubs, trimming limbs, and leveling soil on January 6th and 7th from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to wear work shoes, long sleeves, long pants, work gloves, and a hat and bring a water bottle, clippers, loppers, or any other tools you may have. Volunteers, who must be 12 or older with a guardian on site, will receive a free native plant to take home. Participants from 12 to 17 years old must have a guardian on site. WEDNESDAY, January 8th

MUSIC: BASS in the Bell Tower at The Society Garden (7-10 p.m.)

BASS in the Bell Tower is a family-friendly, weekly event for fans of electronic dance music (EDM) that takes place every Wednesday at The Society Garden. This all-ages event is hosted by DJs MUSH and Kvizen, who offer open decks for the brave attendees. This week, BASS in the Bell Tower will feature a Community 2025 Vision Board Workshop to participate in that will take place in The Society Garden’s Garden Room. There is no cover charge for BASS in the Bell Tower.

THURSDAY, January 9th

Ribbon Cutting at the North Central Health District HOPE Center (2-3 p.m.)

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the opening of the North Central Health District HOPE Center, a health clinic that helps individuals living with HIV/AIDS, on Thursday. The North Central Health District (NCHD), part of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), serves over 500,000 people living in thirteen Central Georgia counties.

Winter Remedy Series Yoga Classes at St. Francis Episcopal Church (6:30-7:30 p.m.)

The St. Francis Episcopal Church invites the public to a series of yoga classes that are designed to help combat the cold and dark of winter. The series, which will be taught by Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Betsy Mills, will take place from Thursday, January 2nd through February 27th. Beginners are welcome to these free classes, and attendees are asked to bring a yoga mat if they have one.

Disabled Vets Bingo Night (7-8 p.m.)

The Ray Williams Chapter 50 of the Disabled American Veteran's organization invites you to place Disabled Vets Bingo for a good cause on Thursday night. Proceeds from the event will help benefit disabled veterans, according to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). DAV provides free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and more.

FRIDAY, January 10th

2024 Anime Recap Trivia at Hello Boba Cafe (6 p.m.)

Test your knowledge of anime at Hello Boba Cafe's 2024 Anime Recap Trivia on Friday. Attendees will enjoy a trivia recap of 2024’s hottest anime releases of series like Blue Lock, Dandadan, Mashle, Delicious in Dungeon, and more. Prizes will be awarded to the top players, according to Hello Boba Cafe. This event is free to attend.

Pensacola Ice Flyers v. Macon Mayhem at the Macon Coliseum (7 p.m.)

The Macon Mayhem hockey team will play the Pensacola Ice Flyers on Dive on Friday night, and the theme of the game will be all things magical with Wizardry Night. If you aren’t able to make it to the game on Friday, the Macon Mayhem will again face off against the Pensacola Ice Flyers on Saturday, and the theme for that evening will be Elvis Night. Tickets to the game currently start at $13 plus fees on the Mayhem’s website.

Swan Lake at The Piedmont Grand Opera House (7:30 p.m.)

The ballet Swan Lake will be presented by Classical Arts Entertainment and performed by the State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine on Friday at The Piedmont Grand Opera House. Skilled dancers will perform in front of 200 custom scenery pieces at this production of Swan Lake, with Artistic Director Andrei Litvinov and choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Tickets to Swan Lake currently start at $45 plus fees on tixr.com.

MUSIC: The Old Soulz Band at 20’s Pub (9 p.m.-2 a.m.)

The Old Soulz Band will be playing soul, classic rock, country, Motown, and dance music at 20's Pub into the early morning hours of Saturday. There is no cover charge at 20's Pub.

Fashion Meets Entertainment at Hotel Forty Five’s Hightales Rooftop Bar (9 p.m.-12 a.m.)

Teeger Entertainment and Hotel Forty Five host an event for networking and meeting other fashionable people in Macon every second Friday of the month at Hightales Rooftop Bar. Hightales will also be offering its signature toppers small plates and full bar service at this event for distinguishing adults.

MUSIC: KP and The Sidewinders at Pub 96 (9 p.m.)

KP and The Sidewinders will play a blend of "old skool covers and funk-rippin originals" at Pub 96 in Bonaire on Friday night. There is no cover charge at Pub 96.

MUSIC: Giant DeNiro at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-1 a.m.)

The band Giant DeNiro hails from Milledgeville and will be playing independent and pop-punk songs at The Hummingbird on Friday night. There will be a $5 cover at the door for the Giant DeNiro show.

SATURDAY, January 11th

Downtown Perry Warehouse and Sidewalk Sale (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Downtown Perry's semi-annual Warehouse and Sidewalk Sale will take place this Saturday. The vendors at this event believe that cash is king, and shoppers will be helping to support the merchants in preparation for next season’s deliveries.

“Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash” One Health Clinic (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

The Macon Area Habitat for Humanity offers free veterinary wellness checks, vaccines, and microchips, as well as free pet food for cats and dogs at "Healthcare for Both Ends of the Leash" One Health Clinic on Friday.

Customer Appreciation Day at Harley-Davidson of Macon (11 a.m.-3 p.m.)

Harley-Davidson of Macon will thank customers and prospective customers at its Customer Appreciation Day on Friday. Attendees will feast on barbecue plates, drink chilled beverages, and listen to music while being able to check out all of the shiny and fancy motorcycles at the dealership.

Renew You Self Care Yoga & Wellness at Holistic Healing Resources (1-2:30 p.m.)

Holistic Healing Resources is offering a monthly 90-minute Vyn and Yin Yoga Class that seeks to provide caregivers, service workers, and anyone else a way to "relax, release, and restore their energy" with mindfulness practice, breathwork, positive encouragement, and more. Pre-registration is required for this adults-only event, tickets cost $45 per person, and space is limited as each movement room only holds four people.

Historic Macon Foundation's Cemetery Tours at Rose Hill Cemetery (2-3:30 p.m.)

The Historic Macon Foundation has been hosting the Rose Hill Rambles, biannual educational tours of historic Rose Hill Cemetery, for over 40 years, and now they will also be offering tours led by historian Kathleen O'Neal on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, according to Historic Macon. Tickets to the tour of Rose Hill Cemetery cost $15 a person, and each tour group is limited to only 20 people to keep the experience more personal.

ROAD TRIP: 2nd Saturday Chili Crawl in Griffin (2:30-5:30 p.m.)

Everyone has heard of bar crawls, but have you ever heard of a Chili Crawl? Downtown Griffin is presenting one this Saturday, where participants will taste 16 unique chili recipes from local chefs and residents at participating venues. The Saturday Chili Crawl starts with a chance to drink adult beverages (if you are 21 and older) at Griffin GoCup and then visit other participating locations to try all the chili recipes. The Chili Crawl's After Party will take place at Piedmont Brewery, where there will be hot food, live music, and the crowning of the 2025 Chili Crawl Champion. SUNDAY, January 12th

2025 New Year’s Storytellers Macon Workshops at The Web (2-6 p.m.)

Storytellers Macon invites storytellers to learn the art of telling a story to spark "connection, creativity, and community" at the 2025 New Year's Storytellers Macon workshops on Sunday. The first workshop, Step Into Storyteller, takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. and is for storytellers 16 and up to learn the craft of telling compelling stories. The second workshop, Listening for Mentors, will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and is for experienced storytellers (who have performed on stage at least four times and have taken a Storytellers Macon workshop) and current mentors. Poses at The Rose Room (4 p.m.)

The Rose Room in Downtown Macon is teaming up with Sparks Yoga to present a 60-minute long, all-level yoga class followed by a well-deserved cocktail hour. Tickets for Poses at The Rose Room cost $30 plus fees and can be purchased through eventbrite.com.

Sunday Nite Jam Session at Grant’s Lounge (3-5 p.m.)

Musicians will come together for the weekly Sunday Nite Jam Session at historic Grant's Lounge this Sunday night. Admission is $10 at the door!
