Summer camps, a dating event at a Macon Bacon game, multiple events about history and the honoring of those who have gracefully helped others Middle Georgia communities, free concerts, and even an electronic dance music (EDM) festival are just a few of the adventurous activities scheduled to take place this week. The following are just a few of the many unique, and often free, things to do in Macon and greater Middle Georgia the week on June 2nd through June 8th.
MONDAY, June 2nd
Grand Opening at Milly Pickleball (6/2-6/8) (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
The newest pickleball complex in Baldwin County will host a Grand Opening this week. Milly Pickleball is a nonprofit organization that organizes events, leagues, learning and development, and organized play.

2025 STEM Summer Camps at the Museum of Aviation (6/2-6/18) (9:30 a.m.)
The National STEM Academy’s STEM Summer Camps will be held weekly beginning on Monday and going through July 18th. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and students at these camps will take part in hands-on activities. Registration for the 2025 STEM Summer Camps is $140 a week, students must register for Fall 2025 rising grade level, and pre-registration is required.

The Search and Discovery of the Cross Raised by Hernando De Soto at Casqui, Arkansas by Archeologist Jeffrey M. Mitchem (6:30 p.m.)
The Ocmulgee Archeological Society (OAS) will present Dr. Jeffery Mitchell at its monthly speaker event on Monday. Dr. Mitchell will talk about the search for, and ultimate discovery of, a wooden cross thought to be raised by the members of Hernando de Soto’s expedition in 1541. OAS’s monthly meetings are free and open to the public.

TUESDAY, June 3rd
2025 Summer Kid Show Series “The Wild Robot” at GTC Houston Lake Cinemas (9:15 a.m.)
GTC Houston Lakes Cinema will present its 2025 Summer Kid Show Series on Tuesday will a screening of “The Wild Robot.” This 2024 movie is about a robot name Roz who was stranded on an uninhabited island who learns how to survive and help the island’s animals, according to the movie rating website IMDb.com. Admission, popcorn, drink, and M&M Minis will each cost $2 during this family-friendly event.

SPORTS/DATING: MAC: Mingle with Singles at Macon Bacon Game (6 p.m.)
Singles (ages 21 to 45) can take part in a unique dating event with Macon Area Connections (MAC) and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. Guests will wear color-coded wristbands showing their relationship status and attractions at this event. The icebreaker game for MAC’s Mingle with Singles is called “Play the Field” and will take place at the beer garden starting at 6 p.m. The baseball game starts at 7 p.m. in the MAC section. Tickets cost $20 per person include entry to the game, on drink ticket, a Macon Bacon hat, and all-you-can-eat food at this historic Luther Williams Field.

WEDNESDAY, June 4th
Houston County Habitat for Humanity ReStore Ribbon Cutting (11 a.m.)
The Habitat for Humanity of Houston County will have a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the store’s updates and renovations. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps those with low to moderate income a chance to become home owners. This event is free to attend.

Historic Train Depot Ribbon Cutting in Byron (3 p.m.)
Tour Bryon will present a special ribbon cutting ceremony “celebrating the restoration and reopening of the Byron Historic Train Depot and event rental space” on Wednesday. This family-friendly event is free to attend.

THURSDAY, June 5th
HMF’s Sidney’s Salon with Author T.M. Brown (5:30 p.m.)
Historic Macon Foundation will hold another Sidney’s Salon this Thursday. T. M. Brown, author of the book The Last Laird of Sapelo. This book is based on the true story of the youngest son of planter and political figure Thomas Spalding and the hard choices brought about by the Civil War and the mistreatment of enslaved people. This event is free to attend but registration is required at this link.

Macon Pride’s Pioneers and Trailblazers Photo History Exhibit at The Tubman Museum (6 p.m.)
June is Pride month and Macon Pride will reveal its Pioneers and Trailblazers Photo History Exhibit this Thursday at the Tubman Museum. This exhibit will feature 22 Middle Georgians who have impacted the arts, community development, social justice, and historic preservation, according to Macon Pride. The 2025 Inductees include Marques Redd (Rainbow Serpent), Richard Frazier-Sostillo (Theatre Macon), and Rearcous Smith (Actor). Bentley Huggins, Richard Frazier-Sostillo, and Scott Mitchell will be the featured storytellers for this event. This event is free and no registration is required.

FRIDAY, June 6th
First Friday in Downtown Macon
Like many cities around Middle Georgia, Macon celebrates the first Friday of each month with special events, live music, and the opening of art exhibits for the month. This First Friday, celebrators can get flash tatoos starting at $60, piercings for $50, and more with special guest tattoo artist Elijah Pilgrim at Redemption Tattoo Parlour from 12 to 10 p.m.
Art galleries around Downtown Macon this First Friday will present receptions for the opening of new exhibits, such as 567 Center for Renewal’s June exhibit featuring the paintings of Caleb Brown, the mixed media work of Char Lockett, and the photographs of Jaey Fawkes at “Fabric of Time” from 5 to 8 p.m. Other galleries celebrating First Friday include the Macon Arts Alliance (“Macon’s Watercolors: A Local Perspective 4-7 p.m.), Green Light Gallery (Meredith Ochoa’s “Rhapsody in Blue” 5-8 p.m.), Wesleyan College Leadership Lab (“The Past Is a Memory, the Future is a Dream” 5-8 p.m.), McEachern Art Center (“ENTITIES” 6-8 p.m.), Gallery West (Folk Blues Art Show 5-9 p.m. - Make sure to stop by and wish blues legend Robert Lee Coleman a Happy Birthday as well!), and Sheridan Studios (new works from several artists 5-8 p.m.)
Feral Fever will also present a free concert from the band The Secret Naughty Pleasures, the house band for the Feral Fever Theater Company, at Fresh Produce Records starting at 8 p.m.
Finally, Downtown Macon visitors can also stop by Robins Financial Credit Union’s tent in front of Just Tap’d to pick up a bingo card. Bingo winners have a chance to win gift cards for $100, $250, and $500.

MUSIC: Summer Music Series at Just Tap’d (5-8 p.m.)
Just Tap’d will kick off its 2025 Summer Music Series with music from singer/songwriter Blane Dunnam this Friday night. The series will include a concert from Family Ties on June 20th, Zach Butler on July 11th, and Ginger Tea on July 25th. Just Tap’d will also offer a summer special of a Fall Line Lager beer pitcher and pizza for $30 on its Summer Series Fridays.

Beach Bash in Downtown Milledgeville (5-9 p.m.)
Milledgeville will celebrate First Friday with a Beach Bash. Beach Bash will include live music and a DJ, a splash zone and beach games, shaved ice and summer treats, and crafts and activities for kids. Beach Bash is a free, family-friendly event.

First Friday on Jackson Square (6-9 p.m.)
The city of Jackson will also celebrate First Friday this week. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best Western clothes and gear to take part in a surprise line dance, play a free ring toss game, and more. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

SPORTS: Macon Bacon Faith and Family Night (7 p.m.)
The Macon Bacon will face off against the Lexington County Blowfish during Friday night’s game. The theme for the night will be Macon Bacon Faith and Family Night. Single game tickets for the game start at $15 on Macon Bacon’s website.

Friday Night Lights at Shady Dale Rodeo (8 p.m.)
Shady Dale Rodeo will present a night of rodeo with Friday Night Lights this Friday evening. Proceeds will go to local children’s charities according to the organizer. Shady Dale is located about 50 miles north of Macon. Tickets cost $25 for adults (13 and up), $10 for kids (6-12), and kids 5 and under get in free.

MUSIC: Macon Me Rave Festival at The Hummingbird, JBA, Late Nite, and Reboot Retrocade & Bar (9:30 p.m.-2 a.m.)
Macon Me Rave is billed as the first electronic dance festival in Macon with music at four different venues. Guests at The Hummingbird Stage & Taproom, JBA, Late Nite, and Reboot Retrocade & Bar will hear music from the following Middle Georgia DJs:

CANCELLED: Flat Creek Native Nursery Native Plant Sale (9 a.m.)
Flat Creek Native Nursery will be holding a Native Plant Sale to celebrate National Gardening Week on Saturday. Native plants are those that occur naturally in the region where they evolved, according to the non-profit environmental organization the Audubon Society. By planting native plants, you can help preserve the biodiversity of Middle Georgia. Shoppers will receive a free pollinator plant with any purchase, according to the plant nursery.

Vintage Day Festival and Fly-in 2025 at the Peach State Aerodrome in Williamson (9 a.m.-9 p.m.)
The Vintage Day Festival and Fly-in at the Peach State Aerodrome will include airplanes to view and ride, vendors to purchase unique items from, and food trucks. This unique family-friendly event is free to attend.

Community Yard Sale in Milledgeville (9 a.m.-2 p.m.)
There will be a community yard sale benefitting the Habitat for Humanity in Milledgeville-Baldwin County and Macon on Saturday in the mission to help build homes for Middle Georgia families. This event will include everything from household goods, clothing, furniture and more, according to the organizers. Vendor spaces cost $10 and you can register to sale your own items at this link.

Health and Senior Expo at the Houston County Galleria (10 a.m.)
41NBC and WMGT will hold a Health and Senior Expo on Saturday. There will be free screening, demonstrations, and door prizes, according to the organizers. The Health and Senior Expo is free to attend.

DANCE: Georgia Dance Lab presents “Tune In, Turn Out” Spring Recital 2025 at the Monroe County Fine Arts Center (2 p.m.)
The Georgia Dance Lab will hold its 2025 spring recital “Tune In, Turn Out” on Saturday. This event will include dancers transporting viewers “to a world of nostalgia, bringing the magic of TV and movies to life.” Doors open at 1:30 p.m. “Tune In, Turn Out” is a free and open to the public.

Macon Black Culture 2nd Annual Jr. Debutante Presentation at The Douglass Theatre (5-8 p.m.)
Macon Black Culture presents its 2nd Annual Jr. Debutante Presentation at the historic Douglass Theatre on Saturday evening. Debutantes will showcase poise, confidence, and community spirit, according to Macon Black Culture. Reserve your seats for this cultural event online at this link for $28.52.

Litty in the City 4 in Warner Robins (5-9 p.m.)
The Urban Jeep Squad Club presents Litty in the City 4, a jeep, car, truck, and bike show, this Saturday. Expect plenty of underglow and wheel lights as well as impressive speaker systems at this event. There will be food trucks, vendors, raffles, and giveaway as well, according to the Urban Jeep Squad Club. Litty in the City 4 is free to attend.

SPORTS: Macon Bacon vs. Catawba Valley Stars - Superhero and First Responders Night at Luther Williams Field (7 p.m.)
The Macon Bacon will play against Catawba Valley Stars on Saturday during Superhero and First Responders Night, though some would say those two professions are the same thing. It is also Waffle House Friends and Family Night, which means if you buy 2 or more single game tickets you will receive free Waffle House, according to the Macon Bacon. Tickets start at $15 on the Macon Bacon’s website.

MUSIC: No Diggity Band at the Monroe County Courthouse (7:30 p.m.)
Forsyth Main Street invites the Middle Georgia community to enjoy a concert from the No Diggity Band. This concert is part of the Main Street Concert Series. The No Diggity Band is a 90s and 00s R&B and hip hop tribute band. This family-friendly concert is free to attend.

MUSIC: Caminator at Grant’s Lounge (8 p.m.)
Caminator will be entertaining crowds from the historic Grant’s Lounge stage on Saturday evening. This band makes music that blends R&B with pop, influenced partly by the one and only Prince. Tickets cost $10 at the door and can also be purchased online at this link.

MUSIC: The Bird’s 20th Birthday with Ernest T. and the MPs and DJ Old Flame at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-2 a.m.)
The Hummingbird will celebrate its 20th birthday on Saturday night with live entertainment from Ernest T. and the MPs, led by Vic Stanley, the founder of The Hummingbird. DJ Old Flame will also be playing a set of hit songs from 2005 to celebrate the occasion after the band performs. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover for this show.

SUNDAY, June 8th
Doggy Day at Fall Line Brewing Co. (1 p.m.)
Dog lovers will meet at Fall Line Brewing Co. this Sunday for the brewery’s Doggy Day. Vendors selling items like treats, leashes, and bandanas will be on hand until 5 p.m. There will also be “pooch pools” so your dog friend can cool off on a hot summer day. Doggy Day is free to attend but dogs must remain leashed and are not allowed in Fall Line Brewing Co.’s taproom.

MUSIC: Musical Celebration of Life for Mark Storey at The Hummingbird (9:30 p.m.-2 a.m.)
Described as a “musical pyre to Maconite Mark Storey” by The Hummingbird, this event will feature live performances from The Henrys, Ruckus, Fair Weather Pilot, Grave, and the Stonewall Willie Band. Storey, who passed away earlier this year, owned and operated Storey Communications for more than 30 years, passionately supported music in Middle Georgia, and even directed a movie filmed in Downtown Macon titled “Hellavator.”

Maconnites love live music and one way to get rid of the Sunday Scaries is to join local musicians for a Sunday Night Jam Session at Grant’s Lounge on Sunday night. This Sunday’s session will pay tribute to the iconic artist formerly known as Prince.
