During the next four days, the adventurous can attend special music events at Downtown Macon's Fresh Produce Records, listen to live music from the Mercer University Wind Ensemble, and much more. The following are just a few of the entertaining, educational, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, April 20th
>> MUSIC: Jazz Dispensary Anniversary Party at Fresh Produce Records in Macon (4-5 p.m.)
Fresh Produce Records will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the music label Jazz Dispensary with a party on Monday. This event will include a listening session, curated mixes, complimentary merchandise, giveaways, and exclusive items. The Jazz Dispensary Anniversary Party is free to attend.

>> MUSIC: Mercer University Wind Ensemble presents Myths and Mysteries at The Piedmont Grand Opera House in Macon (7:30 p.m.)
Conductor Dr. Brittan Braddock will lead the Mercer University Wind Ensemble as they perform Jocelyn Hagen’s Medusa, along with vocalist Samantha Mishima Friedman, during their season finale. Flutist Lucas Meinberg, winner of Mercer’s Townsend Concert Competition for Winds, will also perform, while Mercer Graduate Conductor Chase Bailey will conduct “Divertimento”. Tickets for Myths and Mysteries cost $10, but students receive free entry.

>> MUSIC: Noah Kahan Listening Party at Fresh Produce Records in Macon (4-5 p.m.)
Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide” will be released this Friday, and Fresh Produce Records’ patrons will celebrate the occasion with a listening party on Tuesday. This album will be Kahan’s fourth studio album. The singer-songwriter discovered fame with his hit single “Hurt Somebody,” which was released in 2017. Fans will gather at Fresh Produce Records to listen to the soon-to-be-released album and be eligible for giveaways, and one lucky person will win a grand prize. The Noah Kahan Listening Party is free to attend.

>> Evenings with History: Jessica Whitehead - We are All Seeking Asylum at Allen’s Market in Milledgeville (6:30 p.m.)
The director of the Central State Hospital Museum, Jessica Whithead, will speak about the history of the treatment of mental health and Central State Hospital. This event is part of Evenings with History, which features different speakers discussing surprising and interesting subjects.

WEDNESDAY, April 22nd
>> Bike Night at Bearfoot Tavern in Macon (7-10 p.m.)
Downtown Macon’s Bearfoot Tavern is inviting Middle Georgia bikers to enjoy an evening of drinks, food, and music from Big Mike Trio in the beer garden. The restaurant will be making space for bikers to park out front for this event. Bearfoot Tavern’s Bike Night is free to attend.

>> MUSIC: Bob Dylan: Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour at the Macon City Auditorium (8 p.m.)
Bob Dylan has been performing for almost 70 years and has sold an estimated 12 million records during his career. He will be performing at the Macon City Auditorium on Wednesday during his Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour. Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways was his 39th studio album. Tickets to see Bob Dylan in concert currently start at $105.15 on ticketmaster.com.

THURSDAY, April 23rd
>> MUSIC: Townsend School of Music Honors Recital in Fickling Hall in Macon (3:30 p.m.)
Mercer’s Townsend School of Music’s Honors Recital is scheduled to take place this Thursday at the historic McCorkle Music Building’s Fickling Hall. During this annual event, professors at Townsend School of Music choose one student from each of the school’s four areas (instrumental, keyboard, strings, and voice) to perform. During this year’s Townsend School of Music Honors Recital, Ted Babbitt will perform on organ, Alana Blankenship will sing soprano, Michael Bloom will perform on tuba, and Claire Draney will perform on viola. The Townsend School of Music Honors Recital is free and open to the public.
> McCorkle Music Building’s Fickling Hall: 1329 Adams Street, Macon
>> Sidney’s Salon with Ann Litrel and Charles Seabrook: 35 Natural Wonders of Georgia at the Historic Macon Foundation (6 p.m.)
Charles Seabrook and Ann Litrel, the author and artist team who created “35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See Before You Die,” will give a presentation to the curious at the Historic Macon Foundation (HMF) this Thursday. This educational event is part of HMF’s Sidney’s Salon series. This Sidney’s Salon event is free to attend, but registration is required.

>> Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th > 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Annual Books Sale at the Round House in Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon: Friends of the Library Macon and the Middle Georgia Regional Library will hold the annual Book Sale at the historic Round Building next weekend. This sale will include thousands of gently-used books and media, with prices including $1 for paperbacks to $2 for hardcovers.
>> Saturday, April 25th > 11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Bacon Fest 2026 at Luther Williams Field in Macon: Bacon Fest is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates Macon’s baseball team, the Macon Bacon, as well as the popular, greasy snack. Bacon Fest 2026 will include bounce houses, live music, food trucks, a bacon cook-off, and more.
