ASTRONOMY FORECAST
This week, Venus will be at perihelion, which means it is as close to the Sun as it gets, on Friday, May 15th. Visibility should be decent that night, and Venus is easily visible without a telescope. Venus can be found on the western horizon. It looks bright and white and is visible in the evening sky from February through September, then in the morning sky from November to January. Because Venus has a thick carbon dioxide atmosphere and sulphuric acid clouds, the planet appears white or yellowish-white when viewed through a telescope. In Roman mythology, Venus is a Roman goddess whose attributes are love, beauty, desire, fertility, prosperity, and victory. She was also believed to be an ancestor of the Roman people through her son, Aeneas.
