The month of June starts with a week full of unique events for the adventurous, including yoga on Downtown Macon's Coleman Hill, a movie screening event for kids out on summer break, and more. There are also several events for those who want to make a positive difference in the lives of others, whether it be Middle Georgia youth in need of mentors or animals who need a family to love. The following are just a few of the creative, unique, and often free things to do this week in the heart of Georgia.
MONDAY, June 1st
>> June Animal Shelter Drive at GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas in Warner Robins (10:30 a.m.)
GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas will hold its 2026 Donation Drive for Paws In Middle Georgia on Monday. This event will take place during the theater’s 2026 Summer Kid Show Series, which features adorable animals like those this event will benefit. Attendees who donate wet cat food (with a preference for Fancy Feast Kitten), dry food (with a preference for Purina One), puppy pads, clumping litter, toys, cat/dog beds, blankets, or treats will have a chance to win 2 movie passes.

>> YOGA: Full Moon Yoga and Fire Ceremony on Coleman Hill in Macon (7-8:15 p.m.)
Wild Heart Yoga’s Amber Pierce will lead a unique all-levels yoga class on Coleman Hill on Monday evening. This donation-based class includes a chance to do chalk art for attendees who show up early. Everyone else can take part in journaling, yoga, and a fire ceremony to release the things attendees no longer need. There are several ways to donate to participate in this class to help raise funds for Downtown Macon’s Wellness Hug at this link.

>> 2026 Summer Kid Show Series “Bad Guys 2” at GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas in Warner Robins (6/2 & 6/4) (9:15 a.m.)
GTC Houston Lakes Cinemas 2026 Summer Kid Show Series will take place from Tuesday through Thursday this week, starting with a screening of DreamWorks Animation’s animated crime comedy film “Bad Guys 2” on Tuesday. Admission, popcorn, drinks, and M&Ms will each cost $2 for this special kid-friendly event, and you can purchase tickets at this link.

>> Macon Area Connections: Mingle with Singles at The Rose Room in Macon (6-8 p.m.)
The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce will present an event for Macon’s singles this Tuesday at The Rose Room. Participants will wear wristbands to show their current status, with blue meaning single and attracted to men, pink meaning single and attracted to women, red meaning wingman, and yellow meaning you want to be asked about your status. Tickets for this 21 and up event include 2 drink tickets and cost $20 at this link or online.

WEDNESDAY, June 3rd
>> SparkMacon’s 2026 Financial Literacy - What Your Credit Report Isn’t Telling You at Booker T. Washington Center in Macon (6-7 p.m.)
Booker T. Washington Center hosts an event in SparkMacon’s Financial Literacy Series on Wednesday evening. These programs are “focused on helping individuals strengthen their personal and business finances” and take place every month. There is no charge to attend this educational event.

>> Spoken Word at Over Tyme Bar & Grill in Macon (7 p.m.)
Yolanda Butler and The Raw Pen Room hold Spoken Word at Over Tyme Bar & Grill on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. This event is for grown folks (21 and up to enter) and gives people a chance to say what needs to be said. There is no cover charge for this unique event.

THURSDAY, June 4th
>> Happy Hour with Tim Cadiere and the Tailgate Band at Barrel 118 in Eatonton (6 p.m.)
Happy Hour with Tim Cadiere and the Tailgate Band takes place at Barrel 118 in Eatonton this Thursday. Tim Cadiere is a singer/songwriter whose sound mixes Cajun and country. Barrel 118 is located in a historic 9,300 square foot warehouse that has been renovated to become an event venue. Doors open at 5 p.m. Barrel 118’s Mixology Market is open during its Happy Hour events.

>> ART: Crushed It: Opening Reception at Tanglewood Art Studios in Macon (5-8 p.m.)
Crushed It is a solo exhibition featuring the creative art of Adrienne Berkland. This artist creates large paintings of crushed cans that are “transformed into striking studies of color, reflection, distortion, and identity,” according to the organizers of this exhibit. Crushed It will be on exhibit through July 17th, 2026, in case you can’t make it to the opening reception. There is no charge to attend this event.

>> Big Brothers Big Sisters Heart of Georgia’s Meet & Greet Social at The Rose Room in Macon (5:30-7:30 p.m.)
Mentoring can be a life-changing experience for those who are mentored as well as those who mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters Heart of Georgia will host a Meet & Greet for prospective mentors at Downtown Macon’s The Rose Room in Macon this Thursday. This event is for adults (21 and up) and give those curious about becoming a mentor a chance to mingle with other mentors (called Bigs) and learn more about mentoring for Big Brothers Big Sisters. There is no charge to attend this event.

>> Friday, June 5th: First Friday in Downtown Macon (12-11:45 p.m.): This Friday is the first Friday in June, which means Downtown Macon will be full of adventurers enjoying live music, art exhibit openings, special events (including Picnics & Popsicles in Turpin Park), deals at retailers and restaurants, and much more.
>> Saturday, June 7th-Sunday, June 8th: Macon Market at stARTup Studios (10 a.m.-5 p.m. & 12-5 p.m.): A wide variety of curated local vendors will be selling handcrafted goods, soaps, candles, jewelry, art, fiber arts, custom knives, and more this weekend at Downtown Macon’s stARTup Studios. >> Sunday, June 7th: 2nd Annual Spring Spectacular: Dog’s Day Out at The Society Garden (3-7 p.m.): Furever After Rescue will present its 2nd Annual Spring Spectacular: Dog’s Day Out, which will include vendors, a Doggy Fashion Show, a Treat Catching Contest, and more, while helping support Furever After Rescue’s important mission of helping animals in need.
