PRESS RELEASE: Explore Gwinnett Unveils “The Cloud That Dreamed of a Lake” at Peachtree Corners Town Center

Site-Specific Light Installation by Atlanta Artist Eddie Farr Now on Display Through November 7, 2025

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (October 9, 2025) – Explore Gwinnett, the official tourism organization of Gwinnett County, is thrilled to present a new public art installation, The Cloud That Dreamed of a Lake, by Atlanta-based artist Eddie Farr. Presented in conjunction with the ninth annual ARTober Gwinnett, a monthlong celebration of arts, culture and community, the installation is now on display at Peachtree Corners Town Center throughNovember 7, 2025.

“We are beyond excited to present the Peachtree Corners Town Center public art installation,” said Lisa Anders, chief operating officer of Explore Gwinnett Tourism and Film. “Town Center, with its busy event schedule, welcoming greenspace and high-tech vibe, was a natural fit for our Atlanta-based artist Eddie Farr, whose work focuses on physical and digital technology — perfect synergy with the city’s high-tech brand and reputation.”

Inspired by vibrant sunsets that emerge after a rainstorm, The Cloud That Dreamed of a Lake is a site-specific public light installation. Suspended between the awnings at Peachtree Corners Town Center, an inverted cloud hangs as if caught in reflection. Radiating in coordination with Gwinnett County’s sunsets, golden hues fade into sunset colors before vanishing into night. As darkness deepens, the moon and stars emerge across its surface and slowly dim, as if drifting clouds eclipse the light.

“The idea for the work came from a memory of a cloud reflected in a lake at sunset while I was in residence at Hambidge,” said Farr. “After a rainstorm, the clouds broke just as the sun was setting, and the pond came alive with golden-pink light. Interpreting that image of a reflected cloud at sunset felt like a fun way to reimagine what a sunset could look like.”

From our very first conversation with Explore Gwinnett, we knew this would be a special project. Eddie’s sculpture is a stunning tribute to the world around us and a reflection of what makes our shared spaces truly meaningful,” said Abigail Justman, project director at Dashboard. “It’s only fitting that it finds its home in a park as beautiful as Peachtree Corners. We are so grateful to Explore Gwinnett and Peachtree Corners for giving us the opportunity to bring a new site-specific work to this space.”
