Muscogee Nation flag now flying over Macon, the original homeland of the Muscogee (Creek) people
On January 20th a historic event happened in Downtown Macon: the flag of the Muscogee Nation was ceremoniously raised up on a flagpole and will fly there from now on.
David W. Hill along with other special guests were present at the flag raising ceremony. Hill was elected the seventh Principal Chief of Muscogee (Creek) Nation tribal government in late 2019.
Macon-Bibb County made a recording of the special ceremony that you can watch by clicking on this link.
Hill recently shared his gratitude regarding the flag now flying in Macon in a Facebook post "Now and forever, the Muscogee Nation flag flies over our original homeland. Mvto for everything Macon+Bibb County!"
Mvto means thank you in the Muscogee language.
