Visit Macon's Black Heritage Trail of Macon App and Van Tours available through February

On February 1st of this year, Visit Macon released the Black Heritage Trail of Macon trail, another self-guided trail on the Tour Macon app. They will also be offering the African American Heritage Van Tour throughout the month of February.

This trail leads people on a tour of 37 historically and culturally significant sites connected to African American history in Macon. The sites include the Pleasant Hill District (with its connections to famous figures like Little Richard and Lena Horney), churches, and businesses that helped make history.

Visit Macon is also offering an African American Heritage Van Tour on each Friday and Saturday of February. A tour guide in the van will narrates facts about the significant sites for visitors as they travel around Macon. 

The van tours will start at the Downtown Macon Visitors Center (450 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard starting at 11 a.m. and then 1:30 p.m. on each Friday and Saturday of the month. Tickets for the tour cost $8 and can be booked on Visit Macon's website or by calling the Visitors Center.

Visit Macon was assisted in developing the The Black Heritage Trail by partners Washington Memorial Library, Rock Candy Tours, Historic Macon Foundation, NewTown Macon, Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, and many individuals helped as well.
