The Macon Pride celebration started as a one day celebration in 2019 and has now grown to more than a week of special events at venues around Macon.
Macon Pride 2023 officially began last weekend with the Mx Macon Pride Pageant taking place on Saturday and Macon it OUT to the Movies, where attendees watched the musical “Rent”, taking place on Sunday.
The following Macon Pride events are scheduled to take place this week at 6 different locations around Macon:
Monday, September 25th at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Fall Line Brewing. Co:
- Rainbow Table Talk will include lively discussions that "promote understanding and unity" in the style of "On the Table Macon", according to Macon Pride.
Tuesday, September 26th at 6 - 8 p.m. at Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen:
- Lively Libations Social will include the unveiling of the 2023 Macon Pride beer (a Belgian wit from Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen) will be revealed and attendees will take part in games and conversations while enjoying live music from local bands.
Wednesday, September 27th at 7:30 p.m. at The Grand Opera House:
- Broadway Does Pride will include multiple performances that celebrate "love, acceptance, and unity", according to Macon Pride. This event is also part of the Grand Opera Houses "Broadway Does" series: tickets to Broadway Does Pride cost $10 on Tixr.com.
Thursday, September 28th at 6 - 8 p.m. at Third Street Park:
- Karaoke in the Park invites participants to become a karaoke performer in front of the community in Downtown Macon's Third Street Park. Karaoke in the Park will be hosted by Yutoya Avaze Leon and McKinley Starks.
Friday, September 29th at 8 p.m. at Capitol Theatre:
- Haus Party will be hosted by Christina Leon and feature drag performances from Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Akasha Giselle Vidalle, Pynk, Christina Leon, Yutoya Leon, Elle Aye. There will be Meet and Greet at 7 p.m. for VIP ticket holders, with doors opening at 8 p.m., and the show beginning at 9 p.m. Tickets to Haus Party start at $20.
Saturday, September 30th at 2 p.m. at Third Street Park:
- Pride in the Park, just like the celebration itself, has grown over the years and this year will include two stages: one stage for live performances from three musical acts and the other for special guest speakers, drag performers, and comedian, according to Scott Mitchell, founder of Macon Pride.
Sunday, October 1st at 12 - 3 p.m. at Coleman Hill:
- Family Picnic and Worship at Coleman Hillis the last event of Macon Pride 2023 and will be a multi-faith service at Downtown Macon's Coleman Hill Park followed by dancing, games, and music, according to Macon Pride.
