Spotlight on Live Music this Week

This week music fans have opportunities to see a live performance from some of pioneers of southern rock, The Marshall Tucker Band and Wet Willie, on Saturday while Skydog Music Festival will honor the life and music of Duane Allman with the help of multiple talented bands while also helping out Depaul USA's Daybreak Day Resource Center on Sunday. The following are just a few of the live shows taking place in the next few days.


THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16

HUNG JURY AT FALL LINE BREWING CO. (5:30 P.M.)

Hung Jury, a 5 piece classic rock cover party band from Macon, will be performing at a FUNraiser benefiting the Macon-Bibb Mayor’s Literacy Alliance on Thursday night. This show is free and open to the public.

DADDY’S BEEMER WITH SPECIAL GUEST HOMEMADE HAIRCUTS AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 P.M.)

Daddy’s Beemer is an indie rock band based out of Charleston, South Carolina. Their debut album, titled Denmark, was released in 2020. The band Homemade Haircuts, an indie pop band from Charleston, will be performing at this show as well. Tickets cost $10 on seetickets.us or at the door.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17

THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND AND WET WILLIE AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7 P.M.)

The Marshall Tucker Band is a rock band that hails from Spartanburg, South Carolina and are known for using blues, country, and jazz. They also helped establish the music genre of southern rock back in the early 70s and singed with Capricorn Records to release their first album, the self-titled The Marshall Tucker Band, in 1973. Two of their most popular songs that many will find familiar are Ramblin’ and Can’t You See. The rock band Wet Willie, another southern rock band that has been performing since the 70s, will also be playing. Wet Willie is well-known for their songs Street Corner Serenade and Keep on Smilin’. Tickets to see The Marshall Tucker Band and Wet Willie in concert currently start at $51 on ticketmaster.com.

DANIEL GRAVES AT LONGLEAF DISTILLERY (7 - 10 P.M.)

Daniel Graves (aka Gravey Jones) is a musician with a wide range and he will be performing an acoustic set at Longleaf Distillery this Friday evening. Longleaf Distillery does not have a cover charge.

J PALMER & FRIENDS: A MACON MUSICIAN SHOWCASE AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8:30 P.M.)

J Palmer & Friends will perform at this show that revolves around some of the many talented musicians in Macon. The Society Garden will charge a $7 cover at the door for this show.

EVIL INTENT, GIVE ME OBLIVION, AND SPLICED AT JBA (9 P.M.)

JBA will be the place in Macon to listen to heavy metal music live on Friday night with performances from Evil Intent, Give Me Oblivion, and Spliced. Tickets cost $5 online or at the door.

KOBANOVA WITH WEST RIDGE CIRCLE AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M.)

Kobanova is an indie rock band from Atlanta who will be performing at The Hummingbird for their first time. The Macon rock band West Ridge Circle, whose sound is heavily influenced by blues, funk, and space rock, will be opening up the show. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this concert.

The sizzle reel for the band Kobanova shows what the audience can expect to experience Friday

CHRIS HICKS AND OTHER SPECIAL GUESTS AT THE ANCIENT MUSIC PEOPLE PRESENTS CAPRICORNUCOPIA  (10 P.M.)

Chris Hicks will perform at this show that will celebrate southern rock, Capricorn Records, and the many talented musicians who call Macon their home. Tickets to Capricornucopia cost $15 on Grant's Lounge's website or at the door.


SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18

DJ UH-OH AT LONGLEAF DISTILLERY (6 P.M.)

DJ Uh-Oh will be performing for the patrons at Longleaf Distillery on Saturday evening. Macon’s first craft distillery does not have a cover charge.

GRAPEVINE BAND AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 P.M.)

The Grapevine Band are one of Middle Georgia’s favorite party bands. The band was founded in Macon in 1987 and they have been rocking and rolling ever since. Tickets to see the Grapevine Band perform this Saturday cost $20 on eventbrite.com or at the gate.

ROAD TRIP: THE CRÜE (MÖTLEY CRÜE TRIBUTE BAND) AT BARNSTORMER’S GRILL IN WILLIAMSON (8 P.M.)

The Crüe is a tribute band that does their best to sound and perform like the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Tickets to see The Crüe in concert start at $25 on eventbrite.com.

BRENT COBB AND SALLY JAYE AT CAPITOL THEATRE (8 P.M.)

Grammy-nominated country music singer and songwriter Brent Cobb will be performing at the Capitol Theatre this Saturday as part of his Southern Star tour. Sally Jaye, a folk singer and songwriter, will be performing during this concert. Tickets are currently showing as sold out on seetickets.com but it may be possible to find them elsewhere.

GYASI AT GRANT'S LOUNGE (10 P.M.)

Gyasi (pronounced Jah-see) is a glam rock musician from Nashville. The entertainment magazine Paste described him as "a glorious mixture of David Bowie and Marc Bolan with the slightest modern twist." Tickets to see Gyasi perform cost $10 on Grant's Lounge's website and at the door.

THE RELICS AT THE HUMMINGBIRD (10 P.M.)

The Relics is a cover band from Atlanta who will be playing popular songs by bands like The Beatles and Green Day. The Hummingbird will charge a $5 cover at the door for this show.

MATT MCMILLAN AND THE CITY LIMITS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 P.M.)

Matt McMillan and The City Limits will be performing covers of popular country and classic rock songs at Billy’s Clubhouse late Saturday night. Billy’s Clubhouse never charges a cover.


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 19

SKYDOG MUSIC FESTIVAL IN CENTRAL CITY PARK (12 - 5 p.m.)

The Skydog Music Festival honors the life and music of Duane Allman while helping benefit the kind souls at Depaul USA’s Daybreak Day Resource Center in Macon. Unlike normal music festivals, you gain entry by bringing 10 or more of the following items: body wash, spray deodorant, double/triple blade razors, new men’s/women’s underwear (M, L, XL), paper towels, coffee creamer, 39 gallon lawn trash bags, liquid laundry detergent, and/or large sturdy backpacks. You can also make a monetary donation for the Daybreak Day Resource Center at the gate.

PIERCE THE VEIL WITH L.S. DUNES AT MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (6:30 - 9:30 p.m.)

Pierce the Veil is a rock and roll band that was founded by two brothers, Vic and Mike Fuentes, after they quit the punk band Before Today. Pierce the Veil has release five studio albums and toured the world. They are currently on "The Jaws of Life Tour". The emo/rock band L.S. Dunes, which is a supergroup led by Circa Survive, will open for Pierce the Veil at this concert. Tickets to see Pierce the Veil and L.S. Dunes currently start at $184 on ticketmaster.com.
