This week you can hear music from Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Garth Brooks. Of course, it won't be from the performers themselves but from talented tribute bands, which is the second-best thing. First Friday celebrations in Macon and Milledgeville as well as multiple festivals will also present many opportunities to enjoy live entertainment in the heart of Georgia. The following are just a few of the performances taking place in the next few days.
FRIDAY, March 1st
RANDY NEWTON & THE FLAMINGO ROAD LIVE SHOW IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 8 p.m.)
Randy Newton & The Flamingo Road Live Show is presented by the Five Star Automobile Group and will take place in Allen’s Market (101 E. McIntosh Street). In addition to the live music, attendees will be able to take part in a community painting and a painted rocks craft project and there will be food trucks and more. This event is part of I heART Milly, Downtown Milledgeville’s First Friday celebration.
TINSLEY ELLIS “NAKED TRUTH” TOUR AT CAPRICORN SOUND STUDIOS (6, 8 p.m.)
Tinsley Ellis is a prolific Atlanta-based blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter who will be performing two shows at Capricorn on Friday evening. ’Naked Truth’ is Ellis’ twenty-first album and is described as full of “acoustic folk blues”. Tickets to both the 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows cost $30 on seetickets.us.

SOUNDS OF SPRING MUSIC FESTIVAL IN MILLEDGEVILLE (8 p.m. - 1 a.m.)
The Sounds of Spring music festival will include music from eight different bands at three different locations. The Asymptomatics will perform first at 8 p.m. at Buffingtons Bar, Better Yet will perform at 8:30 p.m. at the Blackbird Theatre, The Muskogees will perform at 9 p.m. at Dungeons and Daiquiris, Ad Blanco will perform at 9:30 p.m. at Buffingtons Bar, Big Toe and the Jams will perform at 10 p.m. at Blackbird Tehatre, Parking Garage will perform at 10:30 p.m. at Dungeons and Daiquiris, and Lowertown will perform at Buffingtons Bar at 11 p.m. Then Atticus Roness Late Night Show will take place at Dungeons and Daiquiris until 1 a.m. Tickets to the Sounds of Spring Music Festival cost $16 online at this link.
GARRETT COX AT THE DAISY TEQUILA BAR (7 p.m.)
As part of Downtown Macon’s March First Friday, Garrett Cox will be performing at The Daisy Tequila Bar on Cherry Street.
20TH ANNUAL PIG IN THE PARK WITH PERFORMANCES FROM CISSY’S SOUTHERN EXPRESS AND THE DANVILLE TRAIN IN DUBLIN (7 p.m.)
Pig in the Park is a two-day festival in Dublin that starts on Friday and will celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with music from Cissy’s Southern Express in Theatre Dublin at 7:30 p.m. as well as The Danville Train under the pavilion at the Market on Madison at 7 p.m. The free festival will also include face painting for the kids, food vendors, and more.
COUNTRY MOO-SIC NIGHT AT THE MACON BACON GAME (7 p.m.)
Hockey fans will be having a hootnanny at the Macon Bacon game tonight when they face off against the Huntsville Havoc. Attendees will watch the game and also hear lots of classic country music. Tickets to the game start at $14 online at this link.

OPEN MIC NIGHT IN WARNER ROBINS (7 - 11 p.m.)
Open Mic night takes place at the 44th and Madison Event Company + Venue every first and third Friday of the month. Cherelle Clay hosts the open mic event and you can register to perform for free at this link. Tickets start at $15 for general admission online at this link and will cost $20 at the door.
AARON LEWIS AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (8 p.m.)
Aaron Lewis, who many will know as the lead singer of the alternative metal band Staind, has performed country music since 2010. He will be performing at Macon City Auditorium on Friday night and tickets to the show are extremely limited and currently start at $165 on ticketmaster.com.

ROAD TRIP: JUMP - AMERICA’S VAN HALEN EXPERIENCE AT THE GRIFFIN OPERA HOUSE (8 p.m.)
Fans of Van Halen won’t want to miss Jump, a Van Halen tribute band, who will be performing at the Griffin Opera House. Tickets to the show start at $27.50 online at this link.
ZOSO AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE (8 p.m.)
ZOSO is a Led Zeppelin tribute band and they will be bringing their show to the Capitol Theatre on Friday night. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets to see ZOSO in concert cost $25 at this link.
THE RASPY LEMONS AT VICE BAR (9 p.m.)
The Raspy Lemons will perform at Vice Bar on Friday night. This band performs classic covers as well as original music.
TRIBE: GLITCH AUDITIONS AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (9 p.m.)
The Tribe: Glitch is a four-week-long drag competition that will include “challenges and lip sync battles” and will be judged by Christina, Yutoya, Zoya, and special guests, according to the organizers. Auditions will take place on Friday night at Friends on the HILL and the ultimate winner of the competition will get $1,000 in money and prizes, according to The Tribe Macon. Only ten will be chosen to compete. There will be a $5 cover charge for this event.
THE RELICS AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
The Relics is a band from Atlanta who will be playing popular songs from bands like The Beatles and Green Day into the early morning at North Macon’s Billy’s Clubhouse.
FIRST FRIDAY WITH JC3 AND FRIENDS AT JBA (10 p.m.)
Multiple performers will get the crowd dancing from the big stage at JBA on Friday night including DJ Uh Oh, VLOW, Blacc Mel, and JC3.
SATURDAY, March 2nd
DJ UH OH AT FALL LINE BREWING CO.’S ART AFTER DARK (7 - 11 p.m.)
The first-ever Art After Dark will include a performance from Macon’s DJ Uh Oh. The festival will also include glass-blowing demonstrations, a “neon adult bounce house”, and more. The Art After Dark Festival is free to attend and takes place in Fall Line Brewing Co.’s parking lot.
ROAD TRIP: THE ULTIMATE GARTH BROOKS TRIBUTE FEATURING SHAWN GERHARD AT BARNSTORMER’S GRILL IN WILLIAMSON (8 p.m.)
A Garth Brooks tribute band will perform at Barnstormer’s Grill on Saturday. Tickets to this country music concert start at $30 online at this link.
NIGHT RANGER AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (8 p.m.)
Night Ranger is a hard rock band that was formed in 1979 and whose most well-known songs include “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” and “When You Close Your Eyes”. Tickets to see Night Ranger in concert start at $49.75 online at this link.
YACHT ROCK SCHOONER AT THE CAPITOL THEATER (8 p.m.)
Yacht Rock Schooner is an 8-piece band that “specializes in the smooth sounds of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s” (such as music from Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, and Kenny Loggins). Tickets to the show start at $15 online at this link.
COLOR GREEN AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m.)
Color Green is a rock band that will be playing at the historic Grant’s Lounge on Saturday night. The doors will open at 8 p.m. and the rock will start at 9 p.m. This concert is for audiences 21 years old or older. Tickets to this show cost $10 online at this link or at the door.
HU$H MONEY AT JBA (10 p.m. - 1 a.m.)
HU$H Money is a cover band from Athens and they will be performing a late-night show at JBA.
NYTEBYRD AT BILLY’S CLUBHOUSE (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)
NyteByrd is a Macon band described as “a powerhouse rhythm section” and they will be performing rock, funk, rhythm and blues, and dance music early in the morning at Billy’s Clubhouse.
SUNDAY, March 3rd
FIRST SUNDAYS ON THE FISK: DR. JOHN CUMMINS AT CHRIST CHURCH - EPISCOPAL (5:30 p.m.)
Dr. John Cummins will perform thunderous music on Christ Church - Episcopal’s Fisk Organ on Sunday. Dr. Cummins is an organist/choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
FUNKY BLUESTER AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 9 p.m.)
Buffington’s will host a performance from the band Funky Bluester on Sunday evening. There will be no cover charge for this musical performance.
