With a spectrum of performances spanning genres, Macon proves once again to be a hub of entertainment in Middle Georgia in the next few days. From the soulful sounds of Blak 9earl at Grant's Lounge to unwinding with a picnic under the stars at the Second Sunday concert on Coleman Hill, Macon's cultural diversity is on full display. Outside of Macon, there is plenty going on as well, from comedy to an electronic music party, especially for those of the Pisces persuasion. The following is just a small selection of the shows you can attend this weekend in the heart of Georgia.
FRIDAY, March 8th
ONE GOOD RING AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN’S GRILLED CHEESE FESTIVAL (5 p.m.)
One Good Ring is a Grateful Dead tribute band hailing from St. Augustine, Florida. They will be playing on Friday and Saturday at the weekend-long Grilled Cheese Festival. Big Mike & Friends and DJ Pickles will also be performing during the event which will have multiple grilled cheese stations and sample platters, according to the venue. The mood is sure to be high with The Society Garden receiving a lot of community support during its recent appearance before Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning.
ZACH WILLIAMS AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7 p.m.)
Zach Williams is a Christian singer and songwriter as well as a worship leader who will be performing at the Macon City Auditorium as part of his A Hundred Highways Tour this Friday. Tickets to see Williams perform currently start at $41 online at this link.

BLAK 9EARL AT GRANT’S LOUNGE (9 p.m. - 1 a.m.)
The “Songstress of Soul”, Blak 9earl, will be returning to perform at Grant’s Lounge on Friday. This singer can often be found performing to appreciative audiences at venues across Middle Georgia. Tickets to this concert will cost $12 at the door or online at this link.
CL33BO AT JBA (10 p.m.)
DJ CL33BO will be spinning “all the jams n’ yams” late Friday night at the spacious JBA. DJ CL33BO is from Macon and he will be on the big stage for this show.
SATURDAY, March 9th
GEOFF TATE AND ADRIAN VANDENBERG AT CAPITOL THEATRE (7 - 11 p.m.)
Adrian Vandenberg from the rock bands Vanderberg and Whitesnake hasn’t toured North America since 1986. Geoff Tate is a singer and songwriter from the progressive metal band Queensrÿche. Both will be performing selected songs that fans of those bands will probably know by heart (as seen in the video linked here of a recent performance in Florida). The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m. Tickets to the concert start at $40 online at this link or the Capitol Theatre’s box office.
COMEDIAN AL SIDDIQ “I GOT A STORY TO TELL” AT THE MACON CITY AUDITORIUM (7 p.m.)
Al Siddiq is a stand-up comedian, writer, and radio personality based in Texas. He will be performing a show for an audience of people sixteen years and older on Saturday evening. Tickets to the show currently start at $27 on ticketmaster.com.
NO DIGGITY AT THE SOCIETY GARDEN (8 - 10:30 p.m.)
This concert is a can’t miss event for fans of 90’s hip hop. No Diggity is a band that plays hits exclusively from the 90s through the 2000s. They also perform popular pop and rhythm and blues music. Tickets cost $20 online at eventbrite.com or at the gate.

ROAD TRIP: WATER TO WINE AT THE GRIFFIN OPERA HOUSE (8 p.m.)
Water to Wine is a band from Atlanta whose music is reminiscent of that of classic and country rock icons. The band, which has a male and female vocalist, will be playing their original music at this performance. Tickets to see Water to Wine in concert currently start online at this link.
BAS AT AMICI MACON! (9 p.m.)
BAS is a funkadelic band from Macon that was formed three years ago. The band will also will be playing at the upcoming Woman in the Water art event from Court of Miracles at The Society Garden on March 22nd. There is no cover charge at Amici, which is located near Mercer University’s campus and serves such college staples as pizza, wings, and lots of cold beverages.
LATIN NIGHT WITH THE RITMO SOULD BUNCH IN WARNER ROBINS (9 p.m.)
Every second Saturday of each month from March through May Latin Night with the band Ritmo Soul takes place at The Patio at Rigby’s. The cover charge at the door is $5 for ladies and $10 for me.
PISCES PARTY RAVE AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (10 p.m.)
Six DJs will be performing at Buffington’s this Saturday night as DJs Lylewind and Old Flame celebrate their birthdays. DJ Mush, Caddy Wompus, D3MO, and DJ Yert will also be spinning bass, and electronic dance music at this free concert.
STAND UP COMEDY NIGHT AT FRIENDS ON THE HILL IN WARNER ROBINS (10 p.m.)
Ebony the Comedian will be the special guest at this night of comedy at the venue and bar Friends on the HILL this Saturday night. This show is for audiences 21 years old and older and Ramon will host. There is no cover charge for this comedy event.
DIREWOOF AT JBA (10 p.m.)
Direwoof which, according to JBA, is also known as “The Macon, Georgia chapter of the church of Saint Jerome” will be playing music in tribute to The Grateful Dead late Saturday night.
SUNDAY, March 10th
SECOND SUNDAY CONCERT WITH MATT MCMILLAN AND THE CITY LIGHTS ON COLEMAN HILL (6 - 8 p.m.)
Coleman Hill will once again become a music venue on Sunday evening with the start of a new season of Bragg Jam’s Second Sunday Concert series. Matt McMillan and the City Lights is an alt-country band made up of Matt McMillan (vocalist/writer) and Jeremy King (guitarist/producer). The Second Sunday Concerts are all free and open to the public, who are invited to bring their picnic blankets or lawn chairs for a relaxing night looking out over Downtown Macon.
FUNKY BLUESTER AT BUFFINGTON’S IN MILLEDGEVILLE (6 - 9 p.m.)
Buffington’s will host a performance from the band Funky Bluester on Sunday evening. There will be no cover charge for this musical performance.
