The last week of July is here and it will likely be another hot one. But there are thankfully many fun events taking place inside this week as well as plenty of things to do for both adults and kids. The following are just a few of the grand adventures to be had this week in the Heart of Georgia.


MONDAY, July 15th

Summer Art Camp at Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton (9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

This summer art camp is open to rising 1st through 5th graders and campers will create daily art projects like basket weaving and painting. The camp will run from Monday, July 15th through Friday the 19th. Tickets are limited and can be purchased by following this link.

The C. Terry Holland Collection at Macon Arts Alliance (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

Artwork from the personal collection of Interior decorator C. Terry Holland will be on display at the Macon Arts Alliance on Monday. This exhibit will include work from more than 20 artists and include pottery, oriental rugs, and painting, according to the gallery. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Macon Arts Alliance’s mission of supporting Macon’s creatives.

Fairytales & Friends 10th Anniversary Ribbon Cutting at the Robins Regional Chamber (4 p.m.)

This event will celebrate the arts and entertainment company Fairytales & Friends, which offer princesses and characters for events like children’s birthdays and family celebrations. Fairytales & Friends will have more than 15 well-known characters at this free event.

TUESDAY, July 16th

Spider-Macon Across the Spider-Verse at GTC Houston Lake Cinemas (9:15-10 a.m.)

Another film in the GTC Houston Lake Cinemas’ 2024 Summer Kid Show series. The movie will be shown from July Tuesday through Thursday and on Thursday characters from the movie, Miles Morales and Spider Gwen, will be on hand to entertain movie goers. Tickets to this event cost $2 online or at the movie theater.

PeaceFull Parenting at Peachy Playtown in Perry (5:30-7 p.m.)

Peaceful Parenting is a meet-up for moms where they can talk about

the experience of motherhood, share tips and tricks, and learn more about breastfeeding from an expert, Sabrina Hobbs, a RN, Certified Breastfeeding Counselor, and Childbirth Educator, during a questions and answers session. This event will be free for members and $15 per child for non-members.

WEDNESDAY, July 17th

ROAD TRIP: Ken Scott’s Carnival of Adventure Magic Show in Griffin (2:30 p.m.)

The Griffin-Spalding County Library will present their “Adventure Begins at Your Library” summer reading program with a little magic on Wednesday. Magician Ken Scott will present the Carnival of Adventure Magic Show at this free, family friendly event.

THURSDAY, July 18th

Food Truck Roundup - Island Vibes in Warner Robins (5-9 p.m.)

More than 25 food trucks will be serving “delicious island-inspired delights” at this event, according to the organizers. The free event will take place at Perkins Field and include a Kids Zone and live music from Black Lion Reggae.

Happy Hour BINGO with Bragg Jam at Grant’s Lounge (5:30-7 p.m.)

Happy Hour BINGO with Bragg Jam will take place this Thursday. The event is presented by 100.9 The Creek FM and will include drink specials and prizes. Happy Hour BINGO is scheduled to take place every Thursday night and the president of Bragg Jam, Olivia Walter, will be calling out the numbers this Thursday. There is no cover for Happy Hour BINGO.

FRIDAY, July 19th

CANCELLED: Ocmulgee Outdoor Expedition’s Guided Full Moon Float in Juliette (7:30 p.m.)

This event is for those looking for a truly unique adventure. Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions will lead a float that is scheduled around the moon’s cycle and where floaters will be on the water under the light of a full moon. Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions transports attendees to the put-in location and provide necessary gear as well. The Full Moon Floats take place from April through October. Tickets cost $75 for a one-person kayak or $120 for a two-person canoe.

Moments Notice at The Society Garden (8 p.m.)

Moments Notice, also known as Alphonso Thomas and Moments Notice, is a Middle Georgia vocal and smooth jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, instrumental band. They will be performing at Ingleside Village’s The Society Garden.

One Hour Goth Party at Friends on the HILL in Warner Robins (10 p.m.)

Fans of goth music or goth culture will have one hour to celebrate all things dark and gothic at the One Hour Goth Party this Friday night. DJ B3 will be providing the tunes and this show is for those 21 and older. There is no cover charge for the One Hour Goth Party.

The Garrett Collins Project Single Release Party at Grant’s Lounge (9 p.m.-12 a.m.)

The Garrett Collins Project will be celebrating the release of their new single “Blue Eyed Devil” at historic Grant’s Lounge on Friday night. Collins is a guitarist and vocalist who has gained a reputation for his singing and guitar playing skills. He will be backed up a rhythm section with D. Steve on bass guitar and back up vocals and David Green on drums and vocals. Tickets cost $10 online or at the door.

SATURDAY, July 20th

Christmas in July PYP Workshop (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Board & Brush Macon is hosting a Christmas in July crafts and art event on Saturday with two projects. Tickets for this pick your project workshop cost $73 online.

Xanfest V at the Back Porch Lounge (5 p.m.)

This yearly concert event will honor Xander Carlisle, who unfortunately passed away on May 27, 2020, with live music and high energy. Donations raised during Xanfest V will go towards helping repair Xander’s dog’s memorial at his gravesite. This year Xanfest will feature three bands and four rappers. This show is for music lovers 21 and older.

SUNDAY, July 21st

Dunlap Guided Ranger Talk at the Ocmulgee Mounds (2-2:30 p.m.)

This family-friendly event invites you to learn more about the Muscogee (Creek) people and how their land was used after they were forced to march west. The free talk will start at the park’s outdoor classroom and be followed by a 1/4 mile walk to the historic Dunlap house with a knowledgable Park Ranger.

Family Fun Day at Splinters Axe House and Tavern in Warner Robins (2-8 p.m.)

The family that throws axes together…probably has a lot of fun, is how that saying would probably go if it were actually a saying. This event allows one kid per paid adult to throw for free. Contact Splinters Axe House and Tavern at (478) 551-4876 for more information.
