Macon and middle Georgia has many fun things happening this week ranging from blues, country, and rock 'n roll concerts, to comedians, and the always fun Magnolia Soap Box Derby.

Monday, April 4th

Buffalo Nichols at Grant's Lounge (8:00 p.m.) 

This young singer and guitar player is a performer whose talent runs deep. Nichols honed his musical skills in church and in bars in Milwaukee and then with a journey through West Africa and Europe. Grant's is opening on Monday just for the chance to bring Buffalo Nichols to Macon. Tickets are $12 plus fees and can be purchased on Grant's websiteGrant's Lounge is located at 576 Poplar Street in Macon.

Tuesday, April 5th

Fabian Concert Series: April's Au Revior  (12:00 p.m.)

Mercer University's Townsend School of Music and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings will celebrate 15 years of music at this concert. For more information and tickets call call (478)301-5470 or visit the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings website. The concert will take place in McCorkle Music Building's Fickling Hall located at 1329 Adams Street in Macon.

Wednesday, April 6th 

CANCELLED Art Nerd Talk: Canvas Maintenance at stARTup Studios (6 - 7:30 p.m.)

Heidi Clinite Art - Ember Maypop Shop and stARTup Studios present a class to teach artists how to fix dents in canvas, wire and varnish canvas, and protect canvas corners. Heidi Clinite, the Macon artist who painted the Macon Art Map, will lead this class. Participants are invited to share their own tips with the group during this collaborative class. stARTup Studios is located at 1055 Riverside Drive in Macon.

The Price Is Right Live at the Macon Centreplex (7:30 p.m.)

If you have ever wanted to scream numbers loudly (and maybe win a new car in the process) The Price is Right Live will be in Macon this Wednesday. While this event is not the well-known television show it is an "interactive stage show" that will still offer participants a chance to win prizes. Parking will cost $10 and the tickets start at $29 and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com. The Macon Centreplex is located at 200 Coliseum Drive in Macon.

Clockwork Comedy Open Mic (8 - 10 p.m.)

stARTup Studios and Clockwork Comedy presents a night of free range comedians where the audience is invited to try out their best jokes. Professional comics will be on hand to help the amateur comedians work on their presentation skills. stARTup Studios is located at 1055 Riverside Drive in Macon.

Friday, April 7th

Bill Burr: Slight Return at the Macon City Auditorium (7 p.m.)

Actor and Grammy-nominated comedian Bill Burr will be at the Macon City Auditorium Friday might. You may recognize Burr from his roles in Breaking Bad or Disney's The Mandolorian but he is a funny guy too. Tickets start at $36 and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Macon City Auditorium is located at 415 First Street in Macon.

Movies in My Park - Footloose in Washington Park (1984) (7 p.m.)

Washington Park is the small but well designed park on the corner of College and Magnolia Streets. Footloose is a classic 80's movie that tells the story of a teenager moving to a small town and feeling compelled to dance regardless of the town's restrictions. Washington Park is located at 1150 Magnolia Street in Macon.

The Black Opry at the Garden (8:30 p.m.)

This band uses country, pop, neo-soul, jazz, and R&B music to create a unique sound. Nikki Morgan is the singer and learn to sing as a child in church. Morgan grew up in North Carolina but started performing and writing songs in Chicago. She will be singing with Tylar Bryant, a country recording artist and former MMA fighter, and Julie Williams, who is also a country singer. The Society Garden is located at 2389 Ingleside Avenue in Macon.

Saturday, April 9th

Magnolia Soap Box Derby 2022 (10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

Magnolia Soap Box Derby is back again this year in downtown Macon. This will be the 12th Annual Magnolia Soap Box Derby. This free event includes 3 classes of derby racing, dozens of race teams, food trucks, and more. For more information visit the official Magnolia Soap Box Derby website. The Magnolia Soap Box Derby takes place on Magnolia Street in Macon.

Perry Dogwood Arts & Crafts Festival (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

This fun family friendly festival will feature Ultimate Air Dogs jumping long distances into pools, lots of arts and crafts to look at and buy, and more. This year marks the 33rd annual Perry Dogwood Festival and it will take place Saturday, April 9th and Sunday, April 10th at 900 Carroll Street in Perry.

REO Speedwagon at Macon City Auditorium (7:30 p.m.)

REO Speedwagon formed in the late 60's and had some big hits in the 80's like "Can't Fight This Feeling". Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $52.50 and can be purchased from Ticketmaster.com

Sunday, April 10th

Mental health pop up gym (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

Macon Head Space invites you to come out to Daisy Park for relaxing music, meditation, yoga, and more. This organization is seeking to help themselves by slowing down and learning techniques for handling stress and ways to relax. Daisy Park is located at 1021 Daisy Park in Macon.
